Jr. Flyweights: Michael Carbajal vs Ricardo "Finito" Lopez
Michael Carbajal vs Ricardo "Finito" Lopez...For Carbajal's IBF World Jr. Flyweight Title. What happened if this fight happens around 1993, when both were in their primes?

Finito outboxes him and takes a tough but clear unanimous decision. Something like 116-112, or maybe 115-113

Yup, Lopez mets the early rounds with speed and movement but winds up trading heavy blows with Carbajal late as Carbajal more successfully runs him down and lets the sledgehammers flygilgamesh wrote:Finito outboxes him and takes a tough but clear unanimous decision. Lopez is a sad story.
An impossibly great boxer, with next to no one to prove it against. Im reminded what someone said of him during the late-90's...
"If you could make a 160lb version of him, he would beat any fighter, in any weightclass."
He may well have been Mexico's greatest ever, but he'll never be remembered that way. Tragic.

Why couldn't he have have moved up and fought Carbajal and/or Humberto Gonzalez?

He could have and chose not to. He and Humberto were both with Nacho, but this fight was right there. be it King or him, they didn't go for it. This is a tough fight to pick, but I think Lopez could probably eek out a decision with his superior skill set.

I go with Lopez too. Possibly the best skilled fighter I've ever seen.

Lopez wins quite convincingly.

Carbajal probably my favorite fighter in 90's, however this would be like everyone else says. Lopez boxing like a legend to take ud12.

Agreed; Finito by clear decision.
The chance to fight Gonzalez was a small one. Chiquita finished with the Carbajal trilogy in November 94 and lost to Sorjaturong in July 95.
