Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
I'm sure you have explained already, Creasey, but how do the points work? Is it 3 points for beating any other human controlled fighter?
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
Actually I'm gald that you asked mate, I was going to do another introduction for it. Yeah the points table breaks down to look like this:Deno1986 wrote:I'm sure you have explained already, Creaey, but how do the points work? Is it 3 points for beating any other human controlled fighter?
3 pts - a victory against a Managed fighter
2 pts - a victory against a CPU fighter
1 pt - any form of draw
0 pts - any from of loss
After Week 7 these come in to play:
5 pts - winning a Title (ALL FIVE BELTS)
4 pts - sucessfully defending a World Title (WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF)
- IBO doesn't get 4 pts for a title defence because they don't defend against a top 10er.
We'll ise this points system for the first 10 weeks and see how the Boxrec public react to it...
Clearly there's a touch of the Premier League about it.
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
And just going to highlight a few other notable things regarding this system:
If in the event of a unificiation bout the victor will get 9 pts (5 for the new title + 4 for the retaining his old one)
and
during Prizefighter all eight contestants will receieve an additional +1 point regardless of where they finish in the tournament and with Mr Detroit's permission, we will do it for the Million Dollar Tournament.

Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
Wait a minute!!
Going by the points system you can get to the top of rankings by fighting CPU bums for 5 weeks like you are doing at the moment and there is no extra reward for fighting the best out there. e.g Ali fighting and beating Joe Louis. A boxer could fight and beat 5 bums and get 10 points but if a fighter fights the best and wins 3 and loses 2 he still only has 9 points.

Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
Crease! That prizefighter ruling is naff. No chance fighters entering that tourney should get extra points. I understand it's your thing mate but it's a shit tourney not worthy of extra points.
Plus, Deno has given an interesting scenario there. Fighting CPU's should gather you less points.

Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
Mate, I wanted to match Rocky against Duran last week remember? And JDC didn't want that fight...Deno1986 wrote:Going by the points system you can get to the top of rankings by fighting CPU bums for 5 weeks like you are doing at the moment
Beating a Managed fighter gets you more points than beating a CPU one, that is fair isn't it?Deno1986 wrote:and there is no extra reward for fighting the best out there. e.g Ali fighting and beating Joe Louis.
Mathematically there is no disputing that example. But let me provide you with one of my own -Deno1986 wrote:A boxer could fight and beat 5 bums and get 10 points but if a fighter fights the best and wins 3 and loses 2 he still only has 9 points.
fighter A would accumulate 9 points for beating 3 human controlled fighters...
Yet Fighter B would only recieve 8 points for beating 4 CPUs in a row...
and would be ranked behind fighter A despite winning more fights...
Mate, with respect - every system is flawed... There is no prefect ranking system, and if there was then we would already be using it, know what I mean?Deno1986 wrote:Flawed.com
Despite your example, victories over human-controlled fighters are more "weighted" because they get you more points, we'll try it out anyway and just see how it goes for a short while.
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
As a further note, Buzz has informed me that the Title Bout game might have difficulty using it's own rankings systems because all the fighters come from different weight classes. So, we'll use the current system for the first 10 weeks, and guage the Sim public's reaction to it.

Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
1. Can you change a win against a CPU to 1 point. A draw and loss counts for nothing.
2. Can you not give extra points for the PF tournament?
2. Can you not give extra points for the PF tournament?
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
Draws should count for something - let's leave the points the way it is for the moment.jBacca wrote:1. Can you change a win against a CPU to 1 point. A draw and loss counts for nothing.
Well I only suggested this so that the PF Winner will get a good, round 10 points for winning it.jBacca wrote:2. Can you not give extra points for the PF tournament?
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
1. But 1 point for drawing against SRR should not be considered on par with a draw against Eric Crumble. The manager should be tempted away from fighting CPU's. Lowering the points totals would do this. It's a kinda' punishment for being a shithouse.Crease wrote:Draws should count for something - let's leave the points the way it is for the moment.jBacca wrote:1. 2. If only the PF winner gets points, then am fine with that. It'd actually be an incentive for entering.
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
I agree with you on that, equalling Robinson is a much more impressive result than a tie against Crumble. But we are now entering the realms of "perception" and away from the land of statistics. Looking at those two results - they are identical and should be treated as such in the rankings.jBacca wrote:1. Then I'll leave it that way then.jBacca wrote:2. If only the PF winner gets points, then am fine with that. It'd actually be an incentive for entering.
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
... but Crease, perception needs to come into it because we can perceive that cpu opponents are of a terrible standard in comparison to human controlled fighters, which should be reflected in the standings.
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
I can see that we are not going to agree on this. I can see your point, and we probably will veer into your points system after Week 10 (we'll give it a 10 week bash).jBacca wrote:... but Crease, perception needs to come into it because we can perceive that cpu opponents are of a terrible standard in comparison to human controlled fighters, which should be reflected in the standings.
However, in closing I will say this: Perception is relevant when we are discussing fighters records.. Who they beat and who they lost to. Maybe perception us only required for the records and not for the mathematical rankings.

Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
I have an idea.
If you lose to a computer opponent, then you lose a point or two.
You dont lose points for losing to a human controlled opponent.

This is a very good point, mate. We need to resolve this as it can be exploited.DetroitHxC wrote:i don't like this. If I fight someone like Chavez, CPU controlled, he is a GREAT fighter, that is not taken into account.
If I fight the worst humn controlled fighter or the best, I get the same ammount of points. That's stupid. This has no regard for fighters records or standing. It's too general.
Why should I get the same ammount of points for fighting Butterbean or Joe Frazier? Muhammad Ali or Dulio Loi? It makes no fvcking sense!

Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
It's same for everyone. Match your fighters in accordance to these rules.
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
I'm thinking we allow "objective info" to rule for a while, then just like the sanctioning bodies, we can "subjectify". Not sure how this could be accomplished, but will work on a rationale/proposal for future consideration.
And keep in mind, the software may provide a strong alternative, as it begins to sort this season out.

Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
I think the pool should be locked soon, and you should only be allowed one win per CPU opponent. The pool is pretty tough apart from a few poor fighters.
Re: P4P Season Official Rankings:
But if you move all fighters into the Heavyweight Division, isn't there a possibility that you take something away from them? For example can you see Roberto Duran being a good Heavyweight?JDC wrote:Set them all as active heavyweights (create a new rating using their best stats)
