Re: Weight / fat loss
Shocking week, of exercise and diet. Had the shits for a few days, coupled with knee pains and excessive boredom lead to food and beer. Still only put on 0.3kg's so it could have been a lot worse. Kicked my arse in the gym today though.
Bench press
Dumbbell curls
Close grip bench
Arnold press
Wrist curls
Bent over lateral raises
Pulley pushdowns
Skull crushers
Press (light weight, high rep)
3x6 minutes on the cross trainer at high intensity
4x3 minutes on the heavy bag with with 1kg wrist weights.
Thinking of going out for a quick run before the game as well, maybe 2-4km depending how my knee holds up.
Scrap that, did 6km. Pretty heavy on the cardio for a weights day, we'll see how I fair tomorrow.

Shame that fat bitch Toney has ballooned up in weight to avoid me. :xEddieShredder wrote:BoomDeadendgeneration wrote:Bosh, under both 200Ibs and 90kg's this week. Officially a cruiserweight. 89.8kg's.

Darren Corbett is still about though and he can drop 4 stone in a few days; you got a long way to go ![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)
Re: Weight / fat loss
fornicate me that's some heavy squatting. I was doing 100kg before I stopped doing squats. My back was leaning forward to much when I was squatting even just with the bar. After consulting with youtube I've found out this is a common problem and it's down to my hips and my lower legs (ankles & achilles) not being flexible enough. Gonna do some stretching over the next few weeks and get back to it.'Frilla wrote:2 sets of rear squats. 1st set 140kgs for 10 reps, 2nd set 180kgs for 6 reps.
How long has it taken you to hit that sort of weight?

Frilla is a monster, I'd place my bets that he can comfortably squat more than that.
I can do 160kg's for a set of 5 at the moment, been lifting since September although I didn't do any from late December to early February.
Short update, I put on 1/2 a kg last wekk
My own fault, I got invited out by a girl on Saturday night, figuring I was on to a winner and that she would be drinking, I got on it as well. Not wanting to seem like I was taking advantage of a drunk young lady, I got drunk myself. Followed up with food on the way back to her place as well.
Guess all the morning pumping wasn't enough to burn it all off.
Going to have 3 solid weeks now. No nonsense. Even cancelled my holiday so there's no excuses. A bit of a change of tact as well. Going to be doing some circuits I read about on a lifting site today. Sort of cardio weights.

Re: Weight / fat loss
Tried 3 circuits today.
A 12 reps
Bench press
Squat
Bent over rows
Deadlift
Bicycle crunches
B 15 reps
Press
Leg press
Lateral pull downs
Sissy squats
Twisting situps
C 18 reps
Barbell curls
Calf raises
Overhead tricep extensions
Shrugs
Bicycle crunches
2 minute rest between each cycle, and no rest between each exercise within the cycle. I was trying to do 3 of each but threw up after 2. Bit of a beaten man today but I'm going to give it another go on Saturday. I think the weights I used were a little bit too heavy for me as well, so will look at that next time. Also think more stretching will be required as my back became pretty stiff.

Re: Weight / fat loss
I read something today that seemed to make a lot of sense, just wondering if someone could tell me how true this is.
So I've been trying to lose body fat, get down to a certain percentage then start trying to add, mostly, lean muscle. However I was speaking to someone who said that it'd be better to add muscle first as it's easier for the body to add muscle when it knows it has another large energy source (fat). How true is that?
The other reason was that it would be easier to lose fat with a greater muscle mass because of faster metabolism and it obviously required more energy to support a greater muscle mass.
What's the thinking here guys? Should I look to add muscle and then drop the fat? My body fat % is 17.6%.
There's so much conflicting information out there that it's hard to know what to believe.

Re: Weight / fat loss
Fat does indeed burn quicker once you have built up some good muscle gains. However, as I'm sure you know you are going to gain more fat if you go on a bulk to gain more muscle. Even if you do a lean bulk it's gonna happen. A lean bulk is adding no more than 500 calories to your maintenence level. A lean bulk will also make it take longer to gain muscle though. So it all depends on how much fat you have to start with and what your happy with.
I'm in the same sort of position as you. I started at 196, but with a high bodyfat percentage (I was one of those skinny/fat people) Not sure exactly what percentage as I've never checked before. I went down to about 179 before Christmas, but still had to much fat for my liking. At this point I also started to look to skinny everywhere except my gut, lower back and sides and I didn't want to go any lower. So since Christmas I've been bulking. I'm now up to 201 and my waist is smaller than when I was 196. I have obviously gained back some of the weight around my stomach compared to when I was 179, but everywhere else is fuller and overall i'm in better shape.

Re: Weight / fat loss
See my big problem is that I lose a lot of weight very quickly (100 pounds in 6 months) when I was about 20. Thanks to that I've got a lot of loose skin particularly around my stomach and thighs. The lower my weight gets, the worse it looks. I know I'm never going to look great without a shirt on or whatever unles I reach 300 pounds of pure muscle, but it seems the more weight that comes off, the worse I look.
I think I'm going to try and bulk up for a while as cleanly as possible. Get a bit more solid a base, then start cutting again.

Re: Weight / fat loss
If you got a lot of loose skin I wouldn't even bother cutting, not for awhile. A bulk should last for a minumum of 6 months and usually longer. If I was you I would bulk until the end of the year. Add as much muscle as possible and then cut in the new year. The fact is the more muscle weight you put on the more that skin will tighten (obviously). A big back usually helps. Start working your lats and get wider.Deadendgeneration wrote:See my big problem is that I lose a lot of weight very quickly (100 pounds in 6 months) when I was about 20.
