By the time Holyfield saw off Tyson for the second time his career earnings already topped $100m, he's had plenty of sizeable purses since then. Now I'm supposed to believe pure speculation that he's appearing on some poxy dancing show to put food on the table? When he's been fighting at top level for the best part of 20 years? I don't think so.

Well, I know people who know Holyfield, and they've told me he's got financial problems.

Palimony payments for untold children out of wedlock, divorce settlement, profligate spending, it soon adds up.

Heavyweight champions generate a lot of money, but they also generate huge bills. when you've got a support team of anywhere between 20-50 people it's not hard to spend money.

Bear in mind that a lot of expenses come out of a fighters advertised purse.

I don't doubt that certain people are on his case about a variety of issues, but this isn't the same as being broke.

Holyfield sent Steward on his way in the 90's because he wouldn't pay the $350,000 fee out of his $10m fight purses. The bloke isn't that daft.

There's broke and there's broke. Broke to me is having fornicate all in the bank, Broke to Holyfield is living in the manner to which he is accustomed.

Well, considering how Evander moaned about only getting $1.5m to face Donald, what kind of fee do you reckon he'll have organised for himself on a celebrity dancing competition? It sounds absolutely daft to me that he'd be doing this for financial reasons. Holyfield loves being on tv, I remember him playing a part on some sitcom after the Tyson fights, I suppose he needed the money then too?

This may cause a few waves but I think Holyfield has been a complete hypocrite. This is not to discredit his achievements in the ring which has been immense, the guy has my full respect.

But going around bible bashing and preaching this that and the other while sticking his cock in and impregnating anything that moves (while married) is a tad too hypocritical for me. While I admire his achievements in the ring (no pun intended) I find his out of the ring bible bashing personality a little tiresome when you know what he has been up to.

Well he certainly didn't earn his purse that night, he did jack shit. Maybe promoters should pay him on punches thrown through 12 rounds? He'd be walking away with loose change!

At his age and with his recent record he should be thankful he's getting six figures at all!

I guess its testament to his legend that he can still earn that sort of money at this advanced age.

Holyfield did admit once that "nobody is perfect". I suppose this is about as much a show of remorse as you're likely to see from the old billy goat. 8)

What was galling was the way that he banged on about how God wanted him to beat Mike Tyson, Why the fornicate would God have given a fornicate who won? I find the endless harping on about God extremely annoying from American sportsmen, they all bleat on about god this, god that, whilst snorting coke, shagging hookers, and living lives of shameless consumption and luxury....utter hypocrisy

Apparently God had $1,000 on Holyfield in the 11th.

Hasn't Holyfield recently re-applied for his licence? I'm sure I read it somewhere and would like to fight before the years end.

Yeah i find the whole god thing a bit tiresome as well, it's like an automatic thing after the fight "Well firstly i thank god"...for what Mr Mayweather? Getting your arse off an assault charge?

I also find it hard to believe Holyfield is broke but it's not out of the question i suppose. I till think he will fight again though, probably in Italy.
