its news to me that hamed never had power. he turned pro at 18 and kod 9 of his first 10 opponents. only one he missed was the legendary buckley. unless you mean when he was 5 years old

Spencer oliver was saying on ringside a while back that they used to spar and he didnt develop his concusive power until he was older.

I read somewhere Naz's am record was something like 67 fights with 60 odd wins, with about 18 KO's

I think Brendan Ingle said he and Naz worked on his power specifically because he got jobbed by the judges a few time in the amateurs.

Hopefully Eubank Jr's power will develop, with his style he will need decent power or the better fighters will walk through him.

I think right now he loses a little power by throwing shots from slightly too far out, he also seems to put emphasis on speed. As people have said plenty of time to develop, everyone said Khan had no power at all to start with.

havent really followed amatuer boxing for years but i do remember that kos were fairly rare. i would think that most amatuers are young and are learning the sport anyway. i immagine that fighters in the ams with records with high ko percentages would be few and far between , unless you count the old soviet block fighters and cubans etc who werent able to turn pro.

Indeed and it depends on the level of opposition. I don't think Hamed's KO record is especially low by amateur standards. Just though it was interesting in relation to what Spencer Oliver apparently said and Ingle saying they had to work a lot on Hamed's power

Mark Breland's Golden Gloves record was apparently 21-0 (19 KOs) which is amazing.

Richard Evatt used to knock them out in the amateurs, so did Adrian Dodson and the late Shaun Gray; all very big hitters and precise with it. Gary Lockett was unbelievable, no one could last the distance.

When Hamed began to put his weight into the punch he blew them away. Michael Brodie lasted about 30 seconds in an amateur bout and he were a tough and experienced kid who'd called for the bout.

Tony Bellew was a KO artist in the ams, his KO of JL Dickinson in the ABA final was a peach. Just checked his boxrec page and it lists his record as 40-7 (32 KOs)

Listen to him plugging his Twitter, Facebook, Youtube. Do effing boxers just want to be celebrities these days? He sounds like an idiot. Christ can you imagine the likes of Jake LaMotta or Marvin Hagler pulling that shit if they were around today? Urgh.

The most impressive aspect of Eubank Jnr is how he switched his super posh boy accent from 'At Home with the Eubanks' to his new rugged street accent. Lol.
I was shocked at the transformation too from that pusssy hoe preppie silver spoon born mommas boy in the C5 reality show to the hardcore youth brutalising thugs who teased him about his father in car parks. I dont know if those fights are still up on youtube i suspect they are taken down, but they were brutal and showed a hardcore thug with a vicious temprament and ruthlessness his father lacked.

Its a gut feeling from nearly 25 years of observing boxers, in one capacity or the other. I have seen my fellow amateurs in the early 90s go on to good things. I have been wrong about some too, I felt Marc Callaghan would make it to Euro level, such a talent and courageous had it all, but the promoters never gave him a fair break. I just ahve a feeling about Eubanks.

Being Snr's son he may well be being himself! LIke father like son.
