Whats the point of the Ashes if it's only just England Vs Australia?

I think we are headed the way the West Indies went in the early 80s all the older greats retired and they were left with a big gap in there side between the players leaving and the young guys replacing them.

agreed reckon you take these to the bank as being droppedunless they do something remarkable in the last test

Warne (tho like mcgrath this will be his decision)

reckon they will look to build a team around the likes fo Lee, Clarke, Tait

but it will take a while.

Lets also not forget that we ae only winning by small margins, admittedly there is additonal pressure with the little urn only being won once in 20 years so thats not helping, but these guys before being pensioned off, are still fighting hard.

had a bit of a skim through earlier and its funny how wrong and right at times we have all been.

Huighlights are me saying drop tressie who is now topping the batting averages for England.

Everyone but David payne slaying vaughan then he scores 160 in his next innings.

And bollox saying we arent competetive and it will be 5-0 (sorry mate couldnt resist)

I really rate Tressie, doesn't get the headlines he used to make (this ashes has been about Flintoff and Peterson) but still absolute class.

Ok, but theirs not point in just two teams playing each other for it it needs more teams.

Jesus mate this isnt the world cup or anything, the Ashes go back to 1882 and are contested bi-annually between Australia and England.

England still play cricket against other teams just not for the Ashes.

This is nothing like the World Series in baseball or anything.

What's happening is simply what was always going to happen, only one or two series earlier than I thought - old and somewhat tired champ finally beaten by the young hungry contender. The era appears to be over
