I disagree. Heavyweights made for much better action fights before the cult of weight lifting took hold.
Re: To be fair to Ali Adams...
he is in superb shape but this is what a championship heavy should look like

i meant physical shape hence why i said looks like not weighs asMachoMan09 wrote:You think championship heavies should weigh comfortably inside the cruiserweight limit?Adamj1987 wrote:he is in superb shape but this is what a championship heavy should look like

Exactly!Adamj1987 wrote:he is in superb shape but this is what a championship heavy should look like
Joe Louis didn't have a cut weight lifters physique either, but he could bludgeon hulking, 6'6'' 260lb+ dreadnaughts like Carnera, Simon, Buddy Baer and render them horizontal without needing to add needless musclemass.
Re: To be fair to Ali Adams...
There's a world of difference between this and being a well-conditioned fighter. No-one is suggesting fighters should add unnecessary bulk, but equally, professional fighters should train and look after their bodies properly if they're committed to their career... or do you think it was coincidence that Chisora's lethargic performance against Fury, for example, wasn't related to the his level of conditioning?loaded_gloves wrote:without needing to add needless musclemass.

Re: To be fair to Ali Adams...
Deserter, go to Boxrec heavyweight rankings and try to pick out one or two heavies who aren't overweight, either being too fat or carrying around a ton of muscle. They're all 17 stone if not more these days, and they're all slow and awful to watch.
This is a whole other debate but these old school classic fighters with the beautiful moves and technique would dance circles around these fat boys and weight lifters. Very much like a 190lb Roy Jones effortlessly dancing around and even wobbling a 230lb John Ruiz, who himself was usually able to bully the 250-300lb mammoths.
Sorry to go off track but I don't think the heavyweight saviour should not look like a 245 Greek statue looking guy.

Re: To be fair to Ali Adams...
Adams is, at best, Southern Area level, and that's probably stretching it. Only a fraud like A-Farce Harrison would take on Adams and sell it to the punters as a real fight. Adams has very little ability above 4 round level and his movement is badly restricted by the type of muscle he has.
Re: To be fair to Ali Adams...
In the article, Adams says he thinks he is two fights from a world title shot.
Re: To be fair to Ali Adams...
Loooooooooooooooooooooooolllllll
Re: To be fair to Ali Adams...
There's dreaming, and just plain madness.... Adams would do well just making up the numbers in Prizefighter. I'm not even sure if he could get the better of an off-form Tom Dallas in a 6 rounder.

Reckon its a "natural" physique, tho?
To my eye, he looks a bit ummmm "steroidy"
Not juiced up to the eye balls, but maybe a touch of Winstrol?

I'm a bit lost mate to be honest as I don't see how what you're saying above is different to the point I was making?loaded_gloves wrote:Deserter, go to Boxrec heavyweight rankings and try to pick out one or two heavies who aren't overweight, either being too fat or carrying around a ton of muscle. I agree, professional fighters really should be in shape. It is embarrassing to see some of these tubby heavyweights, It sends out all the wrong signals. If fighters can't be bothered to get in shape, why should anyone bother to watch?
