Salvador Sanchez vs Duran, what if?

Post by cabritox »

Who do you guys think would win this one? Its quite hard to imagine because we didnt much see a lot of Sanchez, but remember he was a combination of speed and power. Indeed, Sanchez was a huge lost to the world of boxing.

Come on, Sanchez was a great Feather, Duran was a legendary Lightweight. Too small to compete with Duran.....

Duran had the ferocity combined with the skill to conquer Sanchez, no problem. If Sanchez fought to the level of his opposition then this is one fight he wouldn't be able to do it - fighting up to Duran's level was beyond him

It looked like a complete mismatch at first, but wasn't talked about Sanchez jumping to 135 to face Arguello?
I think that Sanchez steals the first rounds, but relentless pressure form Duran takes its toll, and he decks Sanchez in the 6th and stops him in the 10th. I really don't know how Sanchez would do above feather, so maybe he could resist some rounds more, until the 13th.

This is like saying who'd win in a bout between Robinson and Ali... of course Ali would win because he's too big for Robinson. So I'd have to say Duran just walks through Sanchez's punches.. Of course Sanchez was the better boxer, Duran was in my own opinion one of the greatest if not the greatest brawler. A better match would be Sanchez vs Arguello. Unless Sanchez ran and countered all night.. which is possible I guess, but Duran could take Sanchez' best shot.. so he'd probably just walk through and beat Sanchez.. but Sanchez does have a chance I guess... I just see him losing this fight 7 out of 10 times.

I'd say 10 out of 10 times. Duran was not just a great brawler, but was also a fine technician. Have you ever seen the rematch with Dejesus? Duran was masterful, and actually out boxed the slick DeJesus.

I know i'm being a bit generous.. but I think Sanchez is the best counter puncher of all time.. that being said.. I think he's the better boxer. And well, nothing is sure in boxing so you can't really say 10 out of 10.
