Would these ratings change if you just rated them "pound for pound best performance only".


I'm guessing that Pryor (sadly) and Bowe would benefit from this change of perspective.

Yes or no is all I'm looking for. Saad purely my guess is that your list may not change or would vary less than perhaps others.

Also I assume that G.I. did not list his ratings within the context of his question.

Well Douglas' best performance is arguably more impressive than Lewis' or Trinidad's, so I would guess he would go up a few spots on most people's lists.

Possibly....for those who think Tyson was on fire that night, and Buster just out fought him at the top of Mike's game. For those who thought Mike just phoned in his fight (and still almost KO'd Buster)....they might not be as impressed.

My list, as always, is based mainly off of accomplishments. I think the Riddick Bowe from the first Holyfield fight would beat Foreman and obviously he did beat Evander. But that fight can only take you so far. Trinidad,Bowe,Pryor & Lewis are pretty closely grouped imo. The only conceivable change to the guys above them for me would be Holyfield over Holmes.

Julio at #2 is mind numbing. Hagler wipes his ass with Chavez resume and he was more talented in every way.

Saad, I know what your gettin' at. But I think it's a challenge to take smaller fighters and Imagine what they would do if they were all grown up. I assume you believe a HW Chavez would fall victim to every HW you have rated above him.

Not sure I disagree...however taking these guys proportions and templating them up, does have it's challenges.

I for one was happy to see that most did not "over estimate" the smaller sized fighters overall. But I think it's an easy trap to fall into.

Hagler never got knocked on his ass by Frankie Randall and Chavez never fought fifteen rounds. Putting him second in this group and calling him underrated is a massive oxymoron. I suppose it's how you look at things. Obviously, you think he could have beaten great fighters if he faced them at his best. I'm not so sure he would have. I know Marvin hagler & Evander Holyfield did. There is no opinion or guessing.

Nope, I'd never bet everything on one fight or event and I turn a profit every year. Bowe would rip Foreman apart inside, obviously George could finish him but I'd take Riddick.

I suppose this is a viable reason if he was fighting at 85-90% of the other guys weights, but once your in a division it shouldn't affect anything imo.

Chavez wasn't on the canvas until his 91st fight, Hagler retired after 67 bouts.

I don't see any oxymoron at all. If I called Chavez the greatest fighter of alltime, I would still be in a tiny minority on this forum.
