Ernie Shavers and Jeff Merritt

Does anyone know if Jeff Merritt continued to work as a sparring partner for Ernie Shavers after he broke Shavers jaw in training for the Quarry fight?

Not from anything I've read or heard from Shavers, Holmes et al. There was severe criticism from the Quarry camp after the jaw breaking for allowing Shavers or anyone to train with someone who could hit like Jeff Merritt before a fight.

Candy Slim's life seemingly fell apart after this point anyway.

Any idea who Shavers sparred with for Quarry after his jaw was broken? I have footage of Shavers sparring at the Playboy Mansion while training for Quarry and I cant figure out who he is sparring with. The guy is wearing headgear so you cant tell. Ive found the event being discussed in the papers but it doesnt mention who Shavers was working with. The papers say he was upset that he couldnt train well but Ernie didnt look too upset posing with those Playboy Bunnies...

.....the word around cleveland was the shavers camp was furious with the trainer who put merritt in as a sparring partner for earnie. i think i heard of the guys name at the time but iwasn't familiar with it and can't recall it now.

i saw the merritt/stander fight and stander took a brutal beating. too bad merritt didn't fulfill his promise.

Yes Stander is basically a punching bag in the fight.
