Doherty faces Hadoui

Post by stujones »

I've been dissapointed with the opponents of Tony Doherty, not his performances, but his opponent on the Calzaghe vs A.Shearer (well it would probably be better) undercard will at least give us a comparison with a fellow Welterweight prospect, Matthew Hatton. Docherty faces the Adnan Hadoui who was Hatton's last fight (on the Brodie vs Harrison undercard) and frankly gave him a good fight with one or two iffy moments.

Not saying Hadoui will win (his record suggests otherwise) but at least we might be able to judge more closely who is going the further out of these two.

Doherty will need to keep his thinking cap on. When he fought Fleury back in January he did well and was quite impressive, but there were points where he didn't finish and let Fleury get back into the fight, which, thankfully for him, held only small consequences. Hadoui throws a lot of punches and should be ambitious, so this is a semi-serious test for Doherty. If he keeps focussed on not slipping up he should be okay, though.

I don't know whether Doherty has slightly gone off the boil of late but i think he needs to recapture the early interest people had in him. Hadoui gave Hatton a good battle at times so i think this is a good fight for Doherty.

I think doherty is fighting Taz jones for the celtic title in Cardiff.
According to jones's trainer anyway.

Mmmm could well be, it was supposed to be Jones vs Sinclair (again) for the Celtic title but somehow Sinclair's defeat by Jones has propelled him to a Commonwealth shot vs Duran.

Its like Musical chairs, but with title fights.

Yeah Sinclair has pulled out of the Cardiff bill. Tony will be fighting Taz Jones for the Celtic title. He's well motivated too by the sound of it, and has made proper weight for a change! Cut him some slack, he's still a novice to the pro game, but he will deliver just be patient, he is a talented lad young Tony. There is no comparison between him and M.Hatton. Hatton is not nearly as talented as Tony. Tony would do him now if they fought. Promotional barriers aside.... Allegedly

Keen? turned this fight down to start with, then was told U R doing it. A little complacent of late, comes with boxing easy touches.
Agreed Tony is talented and should be favourite, but this will be the first time he'll get punched back :box: Best match on the card though.
