On the Clev front, I don't think that's gona happen anytime soon, Frank seems happy to let him beat crapstons for cheap WBO defences. So best to probably forget aboput Clev for now and go a different route.

Nice to see Steve Dow mention Bomber's Ajisafe bout because the seeds for the Ovill "upset" were sown there. I thought Tony ploughed forward against Ajisafe thinking it was only a matter of time before he blew Bob away. The blowout never transpired and Tony's talents were overshadowed by what seemed almost a desperation for the KO. The first McKenzie fight saw the undisciplined ploughing forward punished and Bomber's stock sank, despite a gritty comeback win.
The Ovill rematch was a pretty dull affair but the winning performance comprised all the discipline which had been lacking against Ajisafe and the previous McKenzie fight. The Cleverly fight was a huge step forward and last night was almost punch-perfect.
Future looks very bright fro Tony. I hope he gets another Echo headline outing for a Lonsdale-clinching defence.

PS What happened to Jason Cook? I take it he was injured and had to pull out of the Watson fight?

I think the Sky Sports hype machine has decided to try and overpush Bellew ala Kell Brook. I know they're trying their best to create British "Stars" but saying he is a super prospect and a soon to be world champion is a little OTT for my liking, especially when he turns 30 in November. At least put him in with decent level operator before the hyperbole goes into overdrive.

Taking nothing away from Bellew, but as much as it was a good performance, Mcintosh looked nothing more than a journey man in there last night.

I think Bellew needs to stay active, and like others have said forget Cleverly and build your own profile.

Very easy to underestimate and slag Clev off, WBO, FW fighter bla bla bla

Facts are he beat Danny Mac when Danny was an unbeaten fighter and he beat him well.

He went to Bellew's back yard and beat Tony as well, close fight but he won.

Now I like Bellew, he's a very good fighter and takes time to come on here and converse with us and also talks very well after fights, doesnt make excuses etc etc. I respect him a lot.

However, a 5 round beating of McIntosh does all of a sudden mean that he would kick Clev's arse if they fought again.

A lot of people on here using their dislike of FW to slag Clev off.

For what its worth the rematch should happen and it would be a great fight if it did. Both fighters are very good, both seem like nice lads and both deserve respect.

The 175lb division is a bit of a muddle at the moment for Bellew and Cleverly.

Is Clev ready for the divisions elite? Can FW entice them to Great Britain? Is Clev prepared to travel? Can Gutneckt be persuaded to leave Germany to defend his Euro strap in Liverpool? Would Bomber travel? Is there anyone worthy of challenging for Bellew's Lonsdale title? Mckenzie 3? Ajisafe 2? Dickinson? Jeffries? Enzo?

Majority of questions will be answered "no" but I'd like to see Bellew travel to Germany and capture the Euro strap which in turn would present a solid world ranking. Really wish our promoters could find the resources to bring over quality operators who'd teach our prospects so much.

Campillo, Erdei, and Johnson are three respected names that would bring the best out of Bellew and Cleverly but the infrastructure just doesnt seem to be in place.

Was a very good performance from Bellew. The more I see of him boxing and hear him talking the more I like him. He has certainly won me over as I was far from convinced at first. Would make a lot of sense to go for the European belt now, even if that means travelling. Would like to see him busier and would also like to see him on SKY but not sure what the situation is with FW.
