It all depends on who you fight at "world level" doesn't it ?

Rhodes has fought Grant and Alverez, two very tough fights and the Alverez fight was away from Britain. I'm sure that if Ryan had been given a shot against lower quality world champions he would have won, as has been the case with Hatton, Calzaghe, Khan and many more. It all depends on who is about and what your opportunities are at a particular weight and Ryan hasn't had the easiest of routes. Silky Jones won a world title and Ryan beat him, so does that not make Ryan world class ? and are we really saying that Gavin Rees is a "world class" fighter ahead of Ryan ? For me, a world class fighter is someone who can operate at that level and be competative, which is the case with Ryan. As an example, was Bruno not world class when he beat Coetzee ? Was he not world class when he lost to Lennox and Tyson, but then became it when he beat McCall ?

I didn't get into boxing properly until about the age of 19-20 (10 years ago), before that I took note of it (especially the ITV stuff such as Eubank, Benn etc) but didn't get to see enough of it to become a passion.

My passion really kicked off with Hatton (being such a local lad to me) and I also took a big interest in the upcoming careers of Froch and Haye.

I would watch Friday Fight Night religiously, nothing would excite me more than 12 rounds coming from some random leisure centre and I also lapped up all of the undercard stuff after the main fight, even the prospect vs journeyman stuff (which I didn't fully know/understand yet so I still lapped it up and believed the hype when Sky pushed someone).

Nowadays I am feeling my interest wane slightly, I cannot put my finger on why, but maybe it's just that my 'understanding' of the sport has gone up, I now see mismatches for what they are, I only get really excited when it's a decent matchup e.g. last night Bellew vs McIntosh was a very decent domestic matchup so it had me excited while it lasted.

If the undercard is crap I don't watch it, I now find myself more and more flicking over to Match Of The Day if the boxing isn't gripping me, this would have been unheard of 3 years ago. I also find as a working man (postman) that Saturday is my going out night, so I do sometimes miss cards but I still catch up with them the day after so my interest obviously is still there, it's just not as intense as a few years ago, I have to say I do really miss Friday Fight Night for some reason, just the fact that it became such a routine for me.

Maybe this is inevitable and happens to everyone a bit!

I dont really bother going to shows as much - adams-audley is on round the corner and im not going - but i make sure i keep up with BN and BM for te results. Catch the odd show on telly as ive not got sky.

I think it all depends in which era you are from. Im from the era of 80's and 90's when we had lots and lots of good boxers. Tyson coming through the ranks and knocking everyone over and the middleweights where there were that many good fighters you cannot mention them all, but Hearns, Hagler, Benn, Eubank, Herol Graham etc etc. In my opinion there isnt the names anymore. So My interest has dropped a whole lot I wont get up at 3am anymore to watch fights. I used to watch everythnig boxing related on tv back in the 80s and 90s.

Like I say it all depends on what youve had and what your heart misses.

Its been up and down like Herbie Hide in a Riddick Bowe fight. Over the last few years but its slowly coming back again

3 Years ago I moved to Australia where I no longer live in a boxing gym 6 days a week and I have no idea who any of the local fighters are. When people ask me if I get home sick I tell them I miss Ringside and Friday Fight Night. I've recently discovered a website that torrents all the fights from around the world so I'm now watching more than I ever did. (Much to my wife's annoyance)

We recently bought ourselves a house with a nice big Garage which will soon be transformed into a boxing gym. Sadly with only me training in it, it may take sometime to get that true boxing gym smell.

Anyone who's interest has faded like my I suggest a visit to your local club one wiff of that place your be up at 5 beating aside of beef.

My interest in boxing is about the same.
But the British scene just lacks any real heroes to get behind.
Haye is a joke, Khan seems to put more people off and Froch just lacks presence & charisma.
