Daren Dyer retrospective - Part Three added
Re: Daren Dyer retrospective - Part Two added
Cracking read. Nicely written stuff and a really interesting story. I remember watching Daren when I was first getting into boxing, going to have to trawl through youtube to refamiliarise myself ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Great stuff, terrific interview. Fascinating to read about where the Honeyghan trouble started.
Darren apparently liked Duff even less than Lloyd did, which is saying something.....he's right, the Maysonet fight was stopped early - I just watched it for the 1st time yesterday, posted on youtube - the ref does the local boy no favors at all.

He showed a decent chin against Maysonet - He took quite a few full blooded right hands before he eventually went over, Maysonet couldn't miss though.
Looking at the bigger picture, someone like Dyer today would be looked after way more than he was back then. Very much an unfulfilled career when looking back. He could and should have done a lot more, but the seed was sown early on in his pro career it seems.

He was one of those boxers that tried to take his opponent out with every punch, even when he was hurt he'd try and fight fire with fire, and sometimes that was his undoing .

Martin has definitely saved the best until last here.
I don't say this lightly but this series is one of the best things I've ever read on the net - and the third instalment is the best. Really top class.

I really enjoyed reading that! Thank you I hope that the journalist would consider interviewing Jason Rowland and Paul Ryan.
(Without being disrespectful; I read the link for Bill The Bomb and the writing does not hold a candle to this and Billy Williams life surely has a story or 2 in it).

Can only echo the previous sentiments. Great article and glad to hear that Dyer seems to have found some peace and stability in his life. The fantastic pay-off line says it all.

Thanks Eric. If you know where I might be able to locate any of Daren's fights (amateur or pro) I'd be much obliged.ERIC GUY wrote:I saw him last week at the Emirates, told him I thought it was a very good article
