SOROVI V CRONJE

Post by Brute »

What the hell happened here?

Has the bloom gone off the young South African? Has a 42 year old ham and egger had a miraculous improvement?

Didn't want to say anything because I'd get called for Aussie bashing (Even though he's a yarpie) but you Aussie have been over-rated Cronje for years.

There is a distinct smell of mackerel hanging about this fight. Is Pieter any relation to Hansie?

From memory Sorovi started off as a Middleweight? The guy can obviously punch like a muel he has 21 wins 21 via KO, whilst he has lost 16 and been stopped 10 times he has fought alot of decent opposition. One can only imagine a few of those losses were fights taken last minute and when he was never in shape as he's clearly a better fighter than his record suggests.

Not sure about the long layoffs in his career?? But hes now 2-0 2KO's both in Title fights.

I did book Sorovi to fight Jameson Bostic 2 years ago before he fought Pownceby apparently he was a Truck drive in Queensland at the time, Paid for flights etc and then he did a no show............the joys of being a promoter :TU: :yay: :OhYes:

I have always been a huge supporter of Cronje's. Partly because he is so entertaining. But in turn he gets hit way too easy.
This was shown in a couple of his heavyweight wars and his recent match against Tilyard.
I wasnt there last night so wont comment on that particular bout, but Pete needs to concentrate on his defence rather than relying on his ability to rally and come back from adversity. eventually, as it did last night, this style will catch up with you. Well done Moses.Good luck for the future Pete.

It was an entertaining fight. Cronje and Sorovi traded power shots over the fight. Sorovi had 2 standing eights in the 3rd round.
Both guys were gassed going into the 6th round, Sorovi almost retired in the corner between rounds. His trainer convinced him to give it one last go and if he was getting hurt he would throw in the towel. Sorovi come out and throw a massive right hand that hurt Cronje he followed it up and got a count, Peiter was hurt and was soon down again. He beat that count also. Pieter got up and they went to war for the next 30 secs before Pieter was hurt again and took a knee. That was it 3 knock down rule.

Matt Garlett had a great fight with Hwi-jong Kim. Garlett controlled the fight although the Korean had his moments. Kim would be a better suited to longer fights as it took him 4-5 rounds to really get going.

I could not believe this result when I heard it!I am happy for sirovi but cronje surley losing this fight must ring some bells. He was at the Amman/Neiman fight calling out the winner. He really must take a good look at where his career is going if he can't beat sirovi.Perth training camp isn't doing the job at all, exept using his good years up for sparring!

Wow, wow, wow, who would of thought this result, the cruiser campaign has fizzled out already. Watch Pitt, McCracken and Ammann look to get the fight with Sorovi. Where the hell has Tim Bell been.

Another upset this weekend was Aswin Cabuy, the guy who used to fight with no shoes, upset inform granite chin, alex Ahtong inside 6 rounds.

Wow, i didnt catch the fight, but it sounds like it was a tough night for Cronje, he was ahead on all score cards and Sorovi was given the standing 8 count twice before flooring Cronje 3 times!

cronje has the goods imo, he just doesn't give himself the best chance to win so it seems.

like leapai, he has to not use his head so much to stop punches. he is tough, he doesn't always need to prove it.

This was Alex's second KO or TKO loss in the past seven months. He did not go on with the second round after being knocked down at the end of the first by Craig Hill jnr last October. Granted, Hill is a pretty good puncher, but maybe Alex's jaw is not all that durable now. He is getting on.

I have sparred, dommie vea,dan ahmann, jamie bokovic, joseph kwadjo and brad pitt, funnily enough dan was the hardest,I wouldn't mind moving around with neiman, camron, mcracken or cronje, well even green for a laugh! The problem is I can't hit them back hard!As soon as I do they want out.Now we all know I don't move too much for the heavies power,so taking shots off these blokes isn't too much trouble. But when i'm getting hit by quicker punches and usually twice as many as a heavyweight,AND I can't hit them back, hard!'It's just not cricket'as they say...

Yeah i watched the fight Live, and it was'nt his jaw, Hill cracked Ahtongs rib, with 1 of the most beatiful rips at the very end of the round, did you watch?.

His jaw is solid, i've seen him on several occasions cop punishment, and stand and deliver. Great win Cabuy.
