Well done To Ben Murphy cracking guy deserves a shoot at the british title next! Well done! Put plenty into every shoot sure it looked worse than it was as im fine but when I go into the ring im prepeared to put it all on the line and never got that chance I never went down or took a count but!!. But being bitter and complaining about it wont change it Im in boxing for many more years to come I have loads left to offer but it looks like making lightweight may just sap to much out of me as every time iv boxed ant lightweight I havent performed I think a move up to light welter and back out as soon as I can.

Only problem is I worry about tickets its hard enough with a winning record to sell them let a lone without being stopped in the first round! I also find that step up to championship level and working full time right up to the fight so draining and mentally tough not sure how anyone can do it! so them guys who work full time and fight for titles I tip my hat it's been the hardest part on my life to date getting up at half 5 every day running going to work then the extra hours needed everynight to train is unbeliveble!!

Deffently not giving up walking away its not me so I will be back out in way way or another could end up me being an away fighter as the pressur of selling tickets myself training working trying to find a happy medium has been impossible.


Again no excusess! well done Ben did what he needed on the night!!

Im just venting a bit of steam off hear Iv worked and trained so hard this year only to fail at my first attempt it's gut wrenching!! Just wanna get back out again for the love of the sport nothing else.

Phil Gill is a top bloke and am proud to call myself his friend. All of the people that post on here regularly will know this. I cannot say enough about how admire your confidence and honesty mate you are what boxing is all about. Willing to put it all on the line for the sake of entertainment and give nothing but 110% every fight. Ben murphy is also a quality bloke from what i know of him and is also way way beyond southern area level I do think that phil has cone up against one of the best fighters in that division unfortunately for phil. That is not to say that phil is not good enough for this level just maybe a few more fights and better preparation. I still believe that phil is good enough potentially to go on and win a british title it just takes time. Any one who thinks this is the end for phil is wrong and I got one am excited about seeing you back in the ring mate. Enjoy a rest and will see you around.

classy post phil, the one thing that gets on my nerves leading up to a fight is selling tickets, its a pain but if you want more money it has to be done, people dont see that part of it, your training twice a day and then in your rest time your chasing people up about tickets and on top of that you get the promoter asking you every 2 days how many you have sold, as if you havent got enough on your mind already, keep your head up and keep plugging away, some great great fighters have lost in a round and to take a positive from it at least you didnt take loads of hammer that could put miles on the clock, sometimes fighters get caught early thats the game we are in. p.s be carefull up at light welter thats my manor

I can't imagine how difficult it is to hold down a job, train 2-3 times day, sell tickets, promote yourself, make weight, deal with all the crap that boxing (and life) throws up.

I've always enjoyed watching Phil Gill fight, and I'll look forward to the next time. Absolutely no shame in losing to Murphy.

Thanks for all your posts guys trying to get back out as soon as I can so be great if I could get as much support in my next rebuild fight! What would you guys recomemd as my next step im fresh so no need for a long lay off.
