Edgar Alvarado already turned pro - but lost by KO in the 1st round.

Michael (Mike) Reed might turn pro after the Golden Gloves 2012

Reed is a good possibility but he hasn't committed to that yet. He may wait until early 2013. Another DC fighter, Shadeed Floyd who went to the National Golden Gloves in 2010 in his first year as an open fighter, makes his pro debut on May 12 at the Washington Convention Center.

Another guy who was a great amateur in the early 2000's named Harold Parker will finally make his pro debut on that same card.

Hope that her brother Antoine will also turn pro this year - his style so suitable for a pro game.

DC/Baltimore area boxers dominated the National Golden Gloves, winning three titles. Gervonta Davis at 123, D'Mitrius Ballard at 165 and Jerry Odom at 178. Odom won the Golden Boy trophy.

Whats up with Gary Russell (the 141 pounder)? He's a good fighter though it was kinda odd that he came out to the Olympic Trials and didnt make weight for either fight. I think he might have been having some hand problems. He def has a good pro style.

I'm assuming you mean Gary Allen Russell. I recently talked to his father and they are looking to turn him pro, but they don't know when. They are taking their time with him.

Shadeed Floyd won his pro debut this past Saturday in DC -- taking just 54 seconds to stop his opponent. Also, Harold Parker made his long awaited debut and scored a third round TKO.

My son Jordan Shimmell's pro debut was last Saturday, June 30, 2012 and was scheduled for 6 rounds. It was the co-main event on the card. Jordan won the bout by TKO at 0:58 of the 2nd round. Jordan dropped his opponent in the 1st round and then finished him in the 2nd.

The crowd of 1,200+ fans were very loud during Jordan's ring entrance, the announcing of the boxers' names, during the fight and after the fight when the ring announcer, John Parris II, announced the victory for Jordan. Hundreds of loyal supporters were wearing Jordan Shimmell/Team Shimmell t-shirts and really let their presence be known. It was a great show and a great start to his pro career.
