Been announced as new manager of Sheffield FC. God help his players if he needs to give them the old hairdryer treatment.

Re: Congratulations to Curtis Woodhouse
The club used to own the very first set of the rules of football and recently auctioned them off to make a shed load.
They did well raising £881,250 - but they were expecting £1.2 mill.
The club was formed in 1857 - the rules were written in 1858.
Anyway the amount raised should just about pay Curt's contract !!

Question ? Has an active Pro boxer ever become a pro football manager before Curtis Woodhouse ? I can't think of one.smoggy7188 wrote:Been announced as new manager of Sheffield FC. God help his players if he needs to give them the old hairdryer treatment.

Good luck Curtis, top bloke.
I know Sheffield FC are the oldest club in the world, I wonder who they used to play when they first formed?

Re: Congratulations to Curtis Woodhouse
yes fellas the news is true, im really looking forward to getting started, it will in no way effect my boxing or i would have accepted the job, the reason i stopped playing was because it took too much out of me physically, but doing the managing will be fine, i will still be able to train twice a day for a fight and manage the football club too, im not gunna fight forever so this is a good chance for me to try and start a career in something i will look to do in later life, i want 5 more years in boxing then ill leave it to the young uns

Re: Congratulations to Curtis Woodhouse
The oldest fixture on the world is Sheffield FC v Hallam FC - both clubs still in existence, and Hallam's Sandygate ground is the oldest football ground in the world and one of the oldest cricket clubs too - i used spend many, many hours as a young un playin both sports up there. Memories!jim wright1 wrote:Good luck Curtis, top bloke.

PS Sheffield FC is a cracking club with a very nice little ground - what a story if it came storming up through the leagues!

Good luck mate. I would say boxing is more difficult but managing runs it close, methinks.
