I just noticed my wording was a little odd - I too would favour Fletcher to beat Bryant, but it would be good to see how Robbie would fare against a higher level of competition.

Whether its for IBF regional, PABA, OPBF, WBO etc is irrelivant. He will need to fight for one of the ORG's eventually. Fletcher is a talented guy, and sitting on the Aussie title isnt going to get him to a World title shot.

Everyone has a right, If their good enough to fight for, and win the Australian title, I urge every Aussie fighter to fight for and win the National strap if they can, i see it as an honour.

However, most of us know, just how far it will take them, which is not far, so in the bigger scheme of things, and in this current climate, being a good fighter is simply not good enough, you need a vehicle to get you to your ultimate goal, which is a World title, or at least a chance to fight for the World title.

I sat down with the Fletcher camp a few years ago, and mapped out a plan, sadly this plan was thwarted immediately after he won the WBA-PABA title, when he tore his shoulder to threads, had an operation and took almost a year off to recover. Not too many know just what this kid has been through to get where he is today, I have the highest admiration for him, also knowing he is just a terrific ambassador for the sport, both inside and outside the ring.

He won the National title, and i am proud of him for doing so, but that's where it ends, the national title takes him nowhere in the world scheme of things, and this is where Jarrod is headed, he is well above Aussie title level, but the achievement of winning his National title is now done, and he is rightfully proud of that achievement as well.

I have also worked very closely with Team Bryant, and at one stage because he is the PABA champion, Robbie was rated just inside the WBA top 10, I think #9, but now, because of injury and lack of activity, he slipped out of the 10, but now he is injury free and active again, I am hoping, he will get back into the top 10.

His WBA-PABA mandatory defence is overdue, and guess who the Mandatory challenger is?? yes Jarrod, now i see this as a very difficult fight for Robbie, I am not saying he cannot win it, but Jarrod is something special, and knows where he's going, But so does Robbie, so it will be a terrific fight when it happens, most likely in July, but that is not as yet set in concrete.

Robbie has fought who he can within his promoter's plans, he is very popular in WA and prefer's to fight there, Like everyone, I believe he should venture over East as well, but he has got where he is without doing so.

I am more than happy to let both teams negotiate when and/or If the Mandatory will take place, Irrespective of whether Jarrod fights for the WBA-PABA title again or not, he will ditch the Aussie title shortly anyway, because it's done all it can for him, he needs to move on, if he has the world scene in his plans, sadly, he is not getting any younger, but i rate him as one of the best prospects we have in Australia.

Robbie is a never say die well prepared fighter who gives his all every time he steps through the ropes, I know he will do well, whether you like him or not as a fighter, is up to you, but i can tell you, he is better than most think, plus he is an absolute gentleman and a really decent young guy outside the ropes, as demonstrated, when he gave his WBA-PABA belt to Gunnar Jackson, who had just defeated Robbie's own Trainer last Friday, he saw that Gunnar did not have a belt to arrive home with, so gave his to Gunnar and will buy another himself, and at $800 US, that's no mean feat.

So what is being spoken about in here by some who are just talking for the sake of wanting to be heard, and know nothing of the events behind the scenes, above is where it's actually at, a Bryant v Fletcher title fight for the WBA-PABA title is going to happen, it's just when and where, but for one person who knows absolutely nothing of either teams plans, to come in here and tell you utter garbage, is clearly wrong.

No mate, unlike some, I only work off, the last and current set of ratings, which were March

So now in April, he is #2, but is still in Mandatory contention, and I believe, he will most likely take this position come July, after he ditches the Aussie title, to concentrate on going somewhere within the world ratings.

OK...let the times roll & see what happens. Personally I think WBO road is the go for him, after he eventually ditches OZ title.

Maybe Korovov is simply there for the show. Maybe, he's never heard of PABA & it wouldn't know him if it fell over him to ask he stand aside for benefit of OZ boxing LOL!

Perhaps Korobov does not want to fight for a PABA title. He lives in Florida and all of his professional fights have been in the USA. With a so far unbeaten record he may be aiming higher.

This thread has been going for years, it's a good thread, please leave it the way it was...please!

Hope Fletch continue's to fight Australia's best before embarking oversea's, Piper showed a few possible weakness's in Fletchers armour. Bryant really needs a big fight, this could be it.

Great gesture by Bryant to give his belt up to Jackson when there wasn't one for him

Didn't realize Fletcher's shoulder was that bad either. Informative post back there :TU:
