Supreme Court out-points Charkey Ramon

Post by Beltane »

Charkey, who was a real demolition man during his ring career, before an injury cruelly curtailed his career, has been outpointed in the courts after a lengthy legal brawl.

The washup from the case can be read HERE!

I saw Charkey fight live and on TV a number of times and I reckon he could have taken the heavier Tony Mundine if not for his injury.

The big boys can buy the best lawyers. Hope Dave's old mate Singo helps him out but somehow I doubt it.

$4.5Million. That's going to wreck most people's lives.

That's the punt you take when you go to trail.

It's so costly to litigate these days that you would want to be sure of winning.

I haven't read the judgement, but in any event, sometimes its the party with the deeper pockets that wins the case, not necessarily the party in the right.

He who runs out of money first invariably loses I think you'll find.

Not sure the legal eagles are always as frank and honest about your chances as they ought to be. Otherwise they are turning away business aren't they?

For some reason the original judge was replaced during the trial. Strange.

He had a stroke after he'd finished hearing all the evidence. I assume they then had to virtually start over.

When Ramon held the Commonwealth light middleweight title, Mundine held the Commonwealth middleweight title. Mundine was working towards a world title challenge at that weight, and would get that chance against Monzon about 2 years later. There wouldn't have been any attraction for Mundine to fight Ramon.
