Light, Welter, Middle and Heavy.... 4 Dream Fights.

Post by keithmoonhangover »

You can pick from any fighters from history for your dream four card fight card - one in each division.

Instead of picking Ali-Louis etc, I'm going to go for four fights that would be personal to me.

Light - Julio C Chavez vs Benny Leonard

Welter - Thomas Hearns vs Donald Curry

Middle - Stanley Ketchel vs Michael Nunn

Heavy - Larry Holmes vs Rocky Marciano

135: Whitaker-Duran (although Im quite sure in the real world, Whitaker would win the bout but lose the decision)

147: Robinson-Leonard

160: Greb-Monzon (How could anyone not pick Greb to fight, given the chance? Battle of my #1 and #2-ranked MW's)

200+: Frazier-Holyfield

He would have to go with benny, that was his man. I'd be real interested in seeing Leonard vs Whitaker too. Given this gift, I couldn't resist seeing guys like Leonard, Greb & SRR at their best.

Man.

Hearns would splatter Chavez's head like a zit. There'd be little bits of fragmented Julio skull all over the first three rows.

exactly like the meldrick taylor fight, except tommy puts chavez away by round 5/6,no way tommy would risk chavez getting into a rythm and unloading any of those body shots on him,he`d want him out of there, would be spectacular imo

I cant see Chavez lasting past three rounds. Not if Hearns is serious.

Midget Hispanics were Hearns' wet dream.

Tommy would probably stick to the two rounds it took for Cuevas & Duran. But I like the match up, Chavez deserves it.

Harsh mentioning Duran. That was a fluke, Sir. Nowhere else but at 154lbs does that happen. No, Sir.

Hearns could not handle the great Durans pressure at 135.

chavez, even by mexican standards was nailed on hard,he`d take some chopping down,
it`d be fantastical imho, tommy`s jabs thudding into chavez, who carries on advancing like a stubborn buffalo, until, bang, the hitman unloads one of his concusive right hands, chavez is up at 8 but is staggering round like a friday night drunkard, the ref,in his own warped wisdom lets him continue, but hearns is waiting,he takes a step back and like a true assasin, unloads another right,it explodes on the top of chavez head, this time there`s no recovery, the hitman has stopped the monstrous julio cesar chavez

I dont think you're giving Hearns' power, or the size disparity (which is a good bit more than Duran's was) its due.

How do you think the modern day Chavez would do against the archaic, proto-boxer Henry Armstrong?

Hearns-Leonard

Hagler-Monzon

Frazier-Marciano, so we can all get some of that 50/50  action.

Lightweights: Jose Luis Castillo vs Julio Cesar Chavez (I was a big fan of JLC and I'd just like to see how he'd fare with the Legend, I think it'd be a good scrap)

Welterweight: Sugar Ray Robinson vs Tommy Hearns

Middleweight: Harry Greb vs Marvin Hagler

Heavyweight: Joe Louis vs Larry Holmes
Joe Frazier vs Holyfield (Frazier/Holyfield would be a can't miss slugfest, but it's already been named so I wanted to throw out another one)

Bonus - Light Heavyweight pick: Tomasz Adamek vs Matthew Saad Muhammad :bag:

LOL.

Cos Frazier demonstrably hit harder, had greater endurance, a better chin, more heart and a higher work-rate, right?
