How good is Pierre Fourie
How good is Pierre Fourie
I would please like to know how good is South African Light heavyweight contender Pierre Fourie? About his height I heard from the great former world light heavyweight champion Bob Foster said from Friday Night Fights last week that Fourie stood between 5'6" or 5'7" which was short in the light heavyweight division. I heard Fourie wasn't even as big as the other light heavyweight contenders of his days.
I heard Bob Foster said that his challenger Pierre Fourie whom he fought him twice in his defense of his world light heavyweight title who is a short little dude who can stick and move. Has anybody ever seen the two fights of the Foster-Fourie title fight and is it true that Fourie is as tall as Dwight Muhammad Qawi at 5'6" or 5'7" that means Fourie is too small to fight Foster like Foster knocks out the 5'8" Dick Tiger to win the world light heavyweight title back in 1968.

Hey there,
I am Pierre Fourie's daughter
My dad was 5.11" not so short but he was definitely shorter than Foster.
He fought light heavy weights most of his life. Put on some weight to move to the heavy weights but was just on the border of heavy weight to fight Foster. They were both great fights.

Hi Wanita.
Your father was a magnificent fighter. A beautiful, crisp effective jab was something to watch.
May he Rest in Peace.
To the original poster, you can see Fourie fight Victor Galindez on youtube.
In a couple of standup clinches, Fourie is a little taller than Galindez, who was 5 foot 9 and a half.
I'd say Wanita has her dad's height at 5 foot 11 as pretty much spot-on.
He was a very good fighter indeed, that would have benefitted greatly from the super middleweight division that was instituted after his time, as he was naturally between the middleweight and light-heavyweight division.

This. One of the best South Africans of the era, albeit one of the most overlooked.kaiserbill wrote: He was a very good fighter indeed, that would have benefitted greatly from the super middleweight division that was instituted after his time, as he was naturally between the middleweight and light-heavyweight division.

Wanita, you're father had the honor to fight in the golden era of light heavyweights against great fighters whom he fought and other great fighters whom he never fought. However, your father was one of the great light heavyweights in his era.
