Peterson fails drug test!
Reports from America are saying that Lamont Peterson has failed a random drug test in the build up to the Khan rematch. The drug is synthetic testosterone, the test was done in March , so why is it only now coming to light?
Petersons lawyer has admitted that the boxer has tested positive, but said it was an 'isolated occurence' !!
This must put the rematch in doubt, and will give Khan more reasons for losing the first fight.

Next sory will be that pacquiao is his dealer. Lol
Re: Peterson fails drug test!
Shit, synthetic testosterone? Pretty sure this puts an end to the rematch. Wonder if they will be able to sort out a replacement?
And as Ian said, if he tested positive in March, why has it taken this long to come to light? Boxing eh
Looking forward to seeing Peterson back in a year as if nothing happened

Re: Peterson fails drug test!
I like the way his lawyers say 'he has never failed any drug tests before'. Oh, that's all right then. The fact is he has failed this drug test and when you throw in that chap who interfeared with the judge last time makes me not particularly warm to Peterson and his team.
It will be interesting to see if he gets banned or not.

I like the irony that he wanted Khan to get tested then he goes and tests positive himself.
Re: Peterson fails drug test!
His inspirational story seems a tad hollow now. He's gone from Rocky to Trainspotting.

The hometown ref
The man in the hat
The failed drugs test
This all smells a bit wiffy to me.
I bet a few people who were quick to slag Khan off wont be as quick to condemn a person who could end up being essentially a cheat.
If the fight still happens on May 19th I hope Khan smashes him to bits - if the test proves to be a genuine positive test.

Re: Peterson fails drug test!
Its almost laughable what the ruling bodies do to punish drug takers, sometimes a 3 or 6 month ban. Most boxers at the top fight less than this anyway.
For me drug taking could cost the opponent of a boxer serious injury or worse. as they could fighting someone who is stronger and more durable , and therefore could do more damage to them.

Re: Peterson fails drug test!
I agree Ian as cheating is cheating but in the boxing world if you are a big ticket seller or a name its ok. Shane Mosley was announced as a first ballot pick for the Hall of Fame before the Alvarez fight! Taking drugs didn't do him any harm in the eyes of the ruling bodies.Old bones Ian wrote:Its almost laughable what the ruling bodies do to punish drug takers, sometimes a 3 or 6 month ban. Maybe the WBA will create the 'Champion on a drug ban' in recess belt.

Re: Peterson fails drug test!
Peterson is a cheating scumbag and should be made an example of to help rid this sport of all the cheaters.
He should get a life times ban no questions asked plus every single win of his career declared a No contest plus receive a massive fine and jail sentence as to me there is no difference between taking steriods that will help to illegally inflinct more damage on your opponent and using illegal handwraps.
Anyone who has ever entered the ring either as an amateur or professional will back me 100% unless of cause they're on steriods themselves although some of these cheating scumbags obviously think they can beat the system and insist on VADA testing knowing they're juicing as it's very easy to mask the effects...morphine is a popular tactic used by mma fighters. In combat sports both men should be equal and we have to make sure that always happens.
There needs to be VADA testing 365 a year even when boxers are not in training camp as it's usually when they're cycling steroids through their body and getting stronger without fear of being tested and getting caught.

Great point. If somebody doesn't agree with you, they are on steroids.

Re: Peterson fails drug test!
theres been a few cases of this as of late in UFC and MMA..People using TRT and PEDS to get their testosterone up to train longer harder etc..claiming they have medical need to it due to low testosterone in their body.
Its a cop out and needs to be nipped in the bud.

Re: Peterson fails drug test!
If the fights called off hopefully Khan can get a last minute replacement, maybe Ajose could step in
Re: Peterson fails drug test!
Any truth that Peterson, if banned, may be added to the Upton Park card, boxing on a Luxemburg license
Re: Peterson fails drug test!
If Lamont is banned, Khan should fight Anthony Peterson instead. That way we still get to watch a fight and Khan gets to exact a little bit of revenge! Everyone's a winner.
Re: Peterson fails drug test!
I wonder if for example in the state of Nevada or in New York whether it would be allowed for banned boxers to fight on a licensed bill?mexican roadsweeper wrote:Any truth that Peterson, if banned, may be added to the Upton Park card, boxing on a Luxemburg license

Re: Peterson fails drug test!
Going by this report Petersons team have admitted that their boxer took Testosterone pellets in November, their excuse is that Peterson had low testosterone levels!! Absoulute bullshit imo, if he had why wouldn't they inform everyone of this, and of ok'd it before hand. They only admit to it because they have been caught.
If the drug was still showing in March, then he must of been well juiced up in December only a month after taking it. I think this admission sould get Peterson banned for a long time, but that won't happen. In fact the IBF are now saying he may keep the title!

Looks like hes going with the (TRT) Testosterone Replacement Therapy excuse then that all the dopers in mma use when they get caughtOld bones Ian wrote:Going by this report Petersons team have admitted that their boxer took Testosterone pellets in November, their excuse is that Peterson had low testosterone levels!!
