ShadrachSimmo wrote:"Before anyone starts screaming let me point out the Luxembourg Boxing association was formed in 1922, seven years before the british board." A fine quote of Frank defending his stance.
I'm surprised he didn't throw in his usual line of 'they've never been stopped!'

I could a second board created and almost like the darts sPlit happening in the uk!

Is this is a fight between two decent heavyweights = YES
Is this a fight that you more than likely to watch = YES

Whats the problem??

A lot of people posing as paragons of virtue on here all of a sudden.

I'm looking forward to it and its a decent match IMO.

Article on how this fight is able to take place in the UK - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/17989444

The BBBofC is practically powerless to stop a boxing match from taking place in the UK if one takes it far enough.

Well if you are unable to see why the BBBC losing all credibility would be bad for British boxing then I fear I havent got the time to educate you. Put simply if two unliscensed fighters are able to get together and make a lot of money off the back of disreputable behaviour then there is no hope for the sport in the long term. You have to have rules and regulations otherwise there will be anarchy. But I'm sure that the beer and kebab brigade wont give a toss about this and will positively flock to see this fight, so perhaps it is just me who is outdated along with the board of control, left over from the days when boxing at least tried to have a vestige of nobility and respect and boxers generally behaved like sportsmen rather than wannabe celebrities and psychotics....

Just seen a picture from the press conference and they have metal fence between the fighters to stop them getting at each other.

Big mistake not having the press conference live on allegedly. Bunceys boxing hour will be interesting tonight with both Haye and Chisora on it, unfortunately not at the same time.

I wonder if the BBBoC will sanction any undercard fights for this event ?

Makes them a laughing stock if they sanction the undercard fights but not the main fight.

....and will the board ban any licence holder that is directly involved in the "unsanctioned" bout? I.e trainers, seconds, managers, whips, Hell even the MC.

I really think this is FWs way of forcing the boards hand to reinstate Delboys licence and ensure Hayes licence is renewed with minimum fuss.

As much as I'm excited by a Haye v Chisora fight (yes, really!) I'm not sure that the way it has been done sits comfortably with me.
Scary, scary precedent is being set. We saw Danny Williams heading off to Latvia...but now he, and others in a similar state can feel free to fight here...heck with the ease with which it's possible to get a Latvian license we could end up seeing all sorts of scary bouts which could easily drag the port through the dirt.

I've likened the possible scenario to the Packer Series but the possibilities are that we could end up with an even more fragmented sport due to the "professional amateurs" (Rio), the White collar stuff, the actual amateurs and now 2 boards inside the UK. It's hard enough to follow this fornicating sport we don't need dick heads like Warren making it harder.

I'm agreeing with the nay sayers about this contest. I just find it all a farce..... essentially we have a two European level fighters. One stank out the ring last July cause he hurt his toe, and the other who has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights.... yet going to make millions and main eventing a show that looks to have (according to rumours) 2 world title fights (one of these a pretty geniune world level fight).

Not only did FW, yet again, go back on his word that he wouldn't promote this fight. He is going out of his way to promote it.... finding all kinds of various loop holes to stage it. He agreed that Chisora deserved punishment for his behaviour, yet has obviously told the BBBoC what he thinks of their punishment.

Whilst I can see why Haye is doing it.... a lot of money for what is an easy nights work IMO. He has dissapointed me by accepting this fight. I aint sure how pleased the BBBoC will be that he has taken the fight, so I think there would be issues in him securing a world title fight beyond this (perhaps I am wrong). Also, he obviously cares absolutely nothing about his reputation and legacy at all. His last two fights ended up as farces, this is a farce before it even begins.

What sometimes aggreviates me about this sport is the hype over substance. Obviously there is a massive financial insentive to see this fight, but do either guy deserve the financial gain... when you compare what they will be earning, to fighters like Kevin Mitchell, Ricky Burns etc. This isn't a world level fight, but it is going to be hyped up way beyond even the Groves vs Degale fight.

Good fight, going to create a buzz yes.... I will watch yes, but I also watched all of Margarito's fights since his return despite saying he should be banned for life..... Haye vs Chisora is setting a dangerous precedent that is a big worry for the future of the sport.

I can see Scott Harrison boxing on the undercard on a Luxembourg licence. Maybe Danny Williams too.

Is this not a massive risk for Frank? I'm sure he is having to pay Haye a fairly large wage for this and I still don't know how many extra people will get themselves tied into a monthly subscription for a boxing only channel? Surely not enough to make this worthwhile.

Any chance he makes events like this PPV, then he can promise Haye a cut of the sales and sit back and watch the man do what he does best, talk. The channel still doesn't do enough for me to subscribe to full time

What does grate me about this fight is that Warren's involvement. Yes, I am annoyed that he has gone back on his word, but that's not the reason I am annoyed. It is the fact that if Britain's biggest promoter can apparently turn his back and stick two fingers at the laws set by the BBBoC - then its a worry.

If somehow, Ross Minter got a multi multi million pound backer and staged the fight under his unlicenced promotion banner, then I would have far less of a problem..... but a licenced promoter should respect the ruling of a governing body of the sport. Warren has not just demonstrated no respect to them, he's also not adhered to them!

As an outsider I dont understand all the fuss about more supervising board. Its common in other countries. In Germany there is 10 supervising federations with 7 of them being foreign. In Denmark there have been 5 federation, with only 2 of them being danish.

The issue is that a fighter has been banned...and has applied for a license with another body to avoid his ban effectively saying that we're lawless and can let anyone fight no matter their situation...

Well as a boxing fan, I'm pleased to see them duke it out. But it has called into play the role of the BBBoC in domestic marquee events.

All of that aside, wasn't there absolutely loads of complaints about the last fight at Upton Park ?

Apparently they ran out of beer and hotdogs by 6pm and it was basically a complete shambles. Plus there was idiots with side partings, Lyle & Scott shirts and deck shoes as far as the eye could see and all you could hear was "Arwight geezer? larvely !"

Luxembourg Boxing Federation Sanction Haye v Chisora

The fight is on at Upton Park. Does this now mean that anyone over 40 can now get sanctioned?

Out of interest, what would happen if the BBBC stripped Warren and allegedly of their licenses because of this? Would they then have to get a Luxembourg license to promote?

How much power does the BBBoC hold nowadays? Whats stopping anyone using another boxing federation in the UK? nothing by the looks of it.
Why would a promoter pay the BBBoC a fee if they can get it cheaper elsewhere from another countries boxing board, the world bodies will still rate the boxer as they are fighting with a legitimate body.

The only thing they could do is stop someone fighting for the Lonsdale belt, but then that just robs the fans of good match-ups.

Haye v Chisora may just be a one off , but if it works why wouldn't other promoters use them or other cheaper alternatives

I don't want all of this fake respect and "nobility". I want fights and entertainment. The BBBofC needlessly got in the way of a good fight, so I hope they suffer for their decision.
