Do you mean when FW decamped to SKY? The last ITV show for a while was a Hamed show the week after Benn/McClellan.

Recently? It's not easy to say.

BBC got their fingers burnt with Audley. ITV got a bit bored and slowed their output around the time of Froch/Pascal. Think Khan/Paulie M was their last show?

Cool- any sort of press relating? Found an undated boxing news blog and thats about it.

Your best bet would be a Kevin Mitchell type article on Benn/McClellan? There was an oblique mention of the move of the sport to SKY (which is essentially what happened once FW moved his stable).

Great post people forget one thing though and it's a biggy...... UFC isn't a sport, it's a brand. Mma is the sport , the promotion is UFC. It doesn't take a genius to work out that one day someone brands boxing the same way- hbo are half way there now.

As i mentioned a while ago, its not rocket science.

Promoting fights is easy, just have a clear vision, 1 person in charge, keep it simple and most importantly, make sure it all makes sense.

You can buy UFC toys, action figures, belts, top trump cards etc... They are getting the next generation of PPV customers early. Pretty much what Vince McMahon did with wrestling. Has boxing ever done this?

The thing about Vince is either he's a genius or a dope. When WWF is strong he's the guy who gave us Steve Austin, when its weak, he's the bloke who gave us Duke the Dumpster Droze and Himler the Clown.


He' had as many bad years as good ones.


I think Vince's biggest acheivement was the merchandising, by the way, opening up new revenue streams etc.

If I can't find something for the lit review I'm going to have to do something else and if that's the case I'm going to be devo'd!!!

Couldn't you concentrate on more general sports marketing principles in your lit review; pick out your core themes, hypothesis or whatever and then apply it specifically to boxing in the remaining chapters.
