Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
Re: Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
So disappointed this is happening. It just lowers the sport further. Anyone who supports this fight, let alone pays to see it, is just encouraging the type of shameful behavior exhibited by this pair that has lowered the sport even further in this country. I will not pay a subscription to Allegedly channel that month in protest. If you care about boxing, decency and sportsmanship, please give this one a miss.

The term unlicensed means non-BBBofC. There is actually no such thing as unlicensed as no body and that includes the board have more of a statutory right to run boxing in this country than any other. The EBF issue licences but everyone still calls that unlicensed.
David Haye v Dereck Chisora is no more licensed than if Danny Williams boxed Mark Potter again on an EBF show.
This sets a dangerous precedent where if the likes of Boxrec and Boxing News etc cover it and put in their records, every other "licensed" body will be able to justifiably ask for their bouts to be reported on also.

Re: Luxembourg Boxing Federation Sanction Haye v Chisora
This is a great question, and noone seems to have responded to it. anyone have any ideas? What's to stop more fights happening under the jurisdiction of an obscure international boxing board ??Old bones Ian wrote:How much power does the BBBoC hold nowadays? Whats stopping anyone using another boxing federation in the UK? nothing by the looks of it.
Why would a promoter pay the BBBoC a fee if they can get it cheaper elsewhere from another countries boxing board, the world bodies will still rate the boxer as they are fighting with a legitimate body.
The only thing they could do is stop someone fighting for the Lonsdale belt, but then that just robs the fans of good match-ups.
Haye v Chisora may just be a one off , but if it works why wouldn't other promoters use them or other cheaper alternatives

The Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Boxe in an EBU member that means the fight is licensed as any fight in legit fight in europe would be. Its not like and EBF licence.

Re: Luxembourg Boxing Federation Sanction Haye v Chisora
As far as i can understand we are part of the EU so can use any EU members boards license if they part of the EBU as it is effectively a business trade. In theory if board is a member of the EBU they should operate to a certain standard anyway so it makes no difference who is used. Of course the theory isnt always the same as the practical application.Riddick Blowe wrote:This is a great question, and noone seems to have responded to it. anyone have any ideas? Re: Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
Is there any chance of the board lifting the ban for Chisora as he is appealing it?
I mean this fight is going ahead with or without the board, but they are going to miss out on their fee's.
Just watched the press conferance for this fight, 18 security guys sround the tables, and a fence between Haye and Chisora's teams.
Welcome to the WWF of boxing, and it's only May another 2 months of this bollocks to go. Chisora already threatened to go over the fence at Haye.
I'm sure it would of been easier to walk around it

Imagine if this was happening between two fighters that Warren had no vested interest in, he'd be going mad!
The Sun sponsoring it? Sauerland promoting? Disgrace. Where is this sport going? No governance at all.
Do you honestly believe if Hearn and Maloney could promote this fight they'd choose not to
Not even after he promoted a fight in spain involving a fighter who failed a medical so was unlicenced?

Boxing has been a joke for ages with the big fights not being made and all the ridiculous titles. BUt still people watch it. There is nothing like a big fight. At least this gets people talking about boxing.dbf wrote:Boxing is becoming a joke. This is farcical. Haye should be ashamed of himself as should Warren. The bottom line is - The BBBofC are a self appointed body and don't have any mandate to have sole governance on pro boxing. As are all the ridiculous Alphabet agencies.

I presume this is a piss take, yes? Please use emoticons for dullards like me or I might have a coronary.MachoMan09 wrote:It's just a sort of evolution. Embrace it. Change is often refreshing.
Hopefully someone will come along who will start a branded international organisation, with fewer weight divisions, salaried fighters (+ bonuses) and shorter fights, that becomes the dominant force in world boxing and the place where every fighter strives to appear.

Welcome to the AIBA Professional Boxing (APB) a professional tournament without vests or head guards in which boxers will receive regular salaries.dondada wrote:I presume this is a piss take, yes? Re: Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
The Luxemburg boxing board can't be that busy anyway, as their are no current boxers from that country according to Boxrec. Maybe i should of started the Isle of Wight boxing board. The IoWBB. Although some may think thats the Isle of Wight Bare Backs
Re: Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
The BBB of C have no choice but to accept this match, we are in the EC, like it or not. They did not ban chisora from boxing on these shores, they just suspended his british licence.Coco wrote:Will the BBBoC stand up to FW in allowing him to put an unlicensed contest on a licensed bill??
lets take a positive from here, the undercard might well be full of non BBB of C registered mis matches, we will have all foreigners and hopefully some names, we already have povetkin v rahman on the show.
FW has bailed the BBB of C out financially in the past, so maybe he can do as he pleases with them.
hopefully we wont have the usual gang of british judges on the show, they might actually have to pay for a ticket..
Re: Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
Aye, I meant the stellar leap from Haye v Chisora to some kind of boxing utopia. The latter will never happen and - if we ever got anywhere near it - it would have f*ck all to do with this fight which is a showcase of self-interest...as is much in boxing, of course.Old bones Ian wrote:Welcome to the AIBA Professional Boxing (APB) a professional tournament without vests or head guards in which boxers will receive regular salaries.dondada wrote:I presume this is a piss take, yes? This Bruce Baker chap is on Radio 5, he seems like an absolute prat.
"Wladimir Klitschko shouldn't have been in Chisora's changing room watching the wraps", "Chisora didn't spit, it was water", "Wladimir Klitschko was part of the problem". Sorry Bruce but that's crap you've done more harm to this sport this past week than Wladimir has done in his career.

Give it few months we have WBF and WBU fights up down the country eventually leading to split having two boards. It sounds far fetched but it will happen.iamasadlittleboy wrote:This Bruce Baker chap is on Radio 5, he seems like an absolute prat.

Re: Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
I cant see how this show will go ahead unless FW uses other unlicenced boxers or boxers who defect and obtain a "Lux Licence" on the undercard. The Board cant possibly allow its boxers and officials to partake in this event knowing that its main attraction is not sanctioned by them. Have the Lux federation got a referee, 3 judges, timekeeper, whip, MC, Doctors, House seconds etc as any BBBoC licence holders who work directly on this particular bout will in breach of regulation 4.6.
Re: Sun to Sponsor Haye v CHisora using Luxemburg licence?
Saureland are promoting the other fights they use the austrian board of control why would allegedly need the BBBofC, i doubt Povetkin and rahman dont hold UK licenses either. The EBU will provide the officials. The Insider wrote:I cant see how this show will go ahead unless FW uses other unlicenced boxers or boxers who defect and obtain a "Lux Licence" on the undercard. Not sure the EBU will do this without the BBBoCs blessing. Will FW pay for all the afforemantioed officials/Licence holders to be flown in plus Inspectors, Stewards In Charge etc.kingfinn wrote:The EBU will provide the officials.

I should imagine so, he would have had to pay for it inderectly anyway, by the sounds of it he took bids off numerous EBU sanctioned boards before chosing the best deal. The head of the control board was at the presser so i think that ship has sailed.
