Why is Joe Louis' fight with Steve Ketchel in January 1937 not in his record? Was it an exhibition?

Day after Buffalo Times reports the Ketchell KO, but nothing about Poster.
I believe he was supposed to fight Poster instead of Ketchell, but Poster pulled out. A quote from Ketchell in paper, " I thought i was going to lose fight, maybe on TKO in later rounds from a cut, but not in second round from that left hook".
