Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
has this fight been confirmed?
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Not as yet. I'm a bit gutted. I thought it might be the Upton Park thing.
Turns out all the fuss is about a fight between a bloke who's last two were absolute rubbish, and a bloke who's lost his last two, and was thoroughly outboxed by Tyson Fury.
Haye will be running around the ring taking pot shots at chisora all night. I doubt he'll knock him out, and I reckon it'll make Upton Park stink.

Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
I thought the Haye-Chisora fight was mooted to sell tickets for Mitchell-Burns. I payed for those tickets under the impression we'd get both, as soon as I saw the press conference for Haye-Chisora. If the Michell-Burns fight isn't on the same bill, I'm going to be p*ssed off.
The non hardcore boxing fans I'm going with won't give a sh*t though. They don't even know who Mitchell and Burns are.
Goddamit I got mugged off AGAIN, it seems.

I'm a bit disappointed that it wasn't announced today.
If it does get announced, I'm having a score on Mitchell to knock Burns out in the 8th. He hits very hard for a lightweight, and I think he dances better than Burns too.
He hasn't fought Burns. I'm not interested in any bullshit sparring you may or may not have seen, or what Burn's trainer says.

so far the 3 nutt huggers on this site have he hits harder than katsidis, he's more accurate than katsidis, he has a masterful boxing brain and a granite chin. Yet katsidis smashed him up in 3 rounds without even breaking a sweat.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
I'm not a 'nuthugger'. It's just my opinion that Mitchell hits just as hard as Katsidis, and is a better boxer than Burns. Got nothing to do with 'nuthugging'. Mitchell's loss to Katsidis was down to Mitchell, not Katsidis.kingfinn wrote:Dan Dares wrote:Nonsense. If his promoter didn't believe that a focused, fit Mitchell would beat Katsidis, he wouldn't have made the fight. And he certainly wouldn't have made the fight with Burns had Katsidis not been further shopworn from severe beatings off JMM and Guerrero.
Burns has improved dramatically, which makes it a good fight. Full respect to him and his trainer for this, but fancying Mitchell to knock Burns out doesn't make me a 'nuthugger'.

Hattons camp believed Hatton could beat mayweather i didnt make it true. Kevin was completely out of his league thats the long and short of it if he fought katsidis again he would still lose.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Thats because sparring for some fighters is rather different to when they actually box the 'event'Emmseegee wrote:Did you see Burns spar mitchell in the lead up to the Mitchell v Murray fight?
I can remember rumours around that time that burns had too much for mitchell in the sparring sessions which resulted in them being cut short. Possibly just rumours but at the time when i heard it i was tempted to whack a decent sum on murray to stop mitchell. Glad i didnt.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Not what I heard, to be honest it was common knowledge in Mitchell's camp that Burn's was brought in at the beginning of Mitchell's training so to get sharp as there is no denying that Burns is a good sharp boxer....But just different levelsbilly nelson wrote:Des 1 this is were you need to get your facts right mate, ive had reporters calling me after they sparred saying a member of Tean Mitchell said Kevin handled Ricky easily, well im sorry when your close to someone like me and Ricky are and know the hard hard work he puts in and people are talking shit then yes im going to defend him all the way, sorry for being loyal i know its not great in our sportDes1 wrote:Billy Nelson: You really let yourself down by the way you post on here. I find that hard to believe as Jimmy and Mark Tibbs would never disclose information about what went on in sparring behind closed door's. Kevin hasnt achieved anything like what Ricky has and end off geezer...Yes he has. He's been British and Commonwealth Champ, they've both acheived alot. Mitchell also he won the British Title stopping a man who defeated Burns very wide on points. You and others go on about the Katsides result to compare them so why not the Carl Johannson result?billy nelson wrote:The thing is Jimmy Tibbs knows and Kevin knows whats going to happen and it wont go away!!!jessi wrote:Billy you must know deep down kevins gona beat your man, abit like cottos trainer, he never really believed it, the talks just talk and it sells fightsbilly nelson wrote:This fight hasnt even been mentioned to us for the 14th June doesnt matter anyway only one winner,i know ive the better man by some margin

Ricky has became a two weight world champion with the fullest of repect at present theres no comparison between the two
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
all this back and forward slagging seems a bit pointless. on paper, its a fact that that burns has achieved a lot more than mitchell...and anyone who denies it just sounds stupid. mitchell may turn out to be better than burns, and beating him would probably prove it, but usually at the highest level of boxing focus dedication and mental strength are more important than just " talent" . so far whatever gifts kev mitchell has, havent seemed to be backed up by the hard work and disipline shown by the likes of burns. i dont bet on boxing anymore but if i was forced to put my hard earned up, it would be an easy choice to make.

Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
If this fight goes ahead it could be a cracker. I expect Kevin to be dangerous and at 100% mentally and physically for this as anything less and he will make Rickys nights work very easy. It's also a fight that could propel Mitchell back in to the spot light and bigger pay days so this along with it being against a fellow brit should give him all the motivation he needs. For what its worth I think Burns is possibly the most improved fighter I've seen in recent times. It's good to see Burns has been fulfilling his potential of late that was eveident when he fought Earl. I expect Burns to use his ability, skills and ring generalmanship to force a late stoppage win or wide points victory.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
I 100% saw them spar, and from what I saw Mitchell didn't show anything near what his capable of and it was still 50/50, ask billy joe saunders, he was there !kingfinn wrote:that makes 2 of youjessi wrote:I agreeEddy wrote:Kevin's gona smash him up. I think I was the only one that thought he'd beat John. Then what happens, ...Kev stopped him, ...hahaha! Now you're saying that Murray played into Mitchell's hands with his "come forward style" The same aggressive style you all said would be too much for Kevin.
Now it's like Deja-vous all over again!
Kevin will send the sweaty back up the M1 with a black eye."Team Tibbs"
and one of you had to make up they went to a non existent sparring session where mitchell won.

Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
I think Katsidis was past his best when he fought Mitchell and Burns.
It's a good match up. Some here wildly over rate Mitchell, but that's been happening since he turned over. Still a good little fighter.

Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Just wondering.... (you could probably help with this mr nelson)
is there a burns vs mitchell match up on the cards then?
if it's on, when/where is it?
(as i'm lead to believe, by SSN, that the BBBoC will now ban anyone who has anything to do with the unlicensed event at upton)
if burns isn't fighting mitchell, who/where/when is he fighting next?
also, will povetkin vs rahman definately be on the haye vs chis undercard?
ps I take burns for a tight points win
