Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
The lux thing was well underway before mr warren got involved. fact.
The new body in this country will mirror image the board in many ways such as insurance and medicals.
The bbofc have no one to blame but themselves as they travel around the world on huge expenses and then out of the blue hike the licence fee's and then decide that no licence holder can vote or sit on an area council. if it ends up in court they will lose on restraint of trade and they know it. As for the state of british boxing it can't be any worse than it is now, so maybe this will improve things. the boxers with lux will pay the board a foreign boxers fee each time they box on their shows and vice versa. lads who travel out of the away corner will end up better of with the lux licence it will keep the board away from them. the champs for now will be better with the board. We need to make the board realise that the licence holders can still run without them can they without us.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
The BBBoC wont be taking "a licence" away from them, they will be taking "theyre licence" from them, and with very reasonable ground. When a member signs for their licence they are bound to board rules. One of which is reg 4.12 a) and b) whch state...kingfinn wrote:There are set laws for clubs, association, agencies different types of clubs have different legal guidelines. The BBBofC would be breaking fair trade laws, discrimination laws and various other laws if they refused a license due to someone going on another board sanctioned card. People deamed as employees would be another matter.
The BBBofC can refuse the use of their license for the fight but they cant refuse a fighter a license without reasonable grounds because they are in effect the sole UK license providers; the bringing the BBBofC into disrepute isnt going to hold up in court if the card and fighter is licensed by an EBU recognised body.
Either way they are playing a dangerous game because the boxers who leave or fight on this card and get licensed by the lux board will increase the lux boards stake in the UK and reduce the BBBofC's monopoly in the UK.
A member shall only participte in
a)or at a promotion which is licenced by the BBBoC
or,
b)at a promotion organised by a Federation, commission, associaition or controlling body affiliated or recognised by the BBBoC.
Failure to abide by this would lead to a reg 25 Misconduct hearing.
So everyone knows this when they sign. If they are not comfortable with it they walk away. The Board also have restipulated this 2 months in advance of the fight so gave fair warning.
So if someone works the fight and gets banned youd expect them to be reinstated even though they were aware at the time they signed for their licence that they were bound to work for the BBBoC and affiliates only and were told again 2 months before what the consequences would be??? I dont think the courts would win. The board have QCs on their books too.
I think the key thing here is if the Lux Fed is recognised by the board. If they are, the Board lose their only bargaining chip.
Your dead right about it being a dangerous game though. Looks like the board have gone "all in" so to speak. If folk now do decide to leave the board it will be on a large level and defectors will soon follow. Waiting for FWs response to the Boards statement in anticipation.
Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
Well done Robert Smith, I have always rated him and I really hope he sticks to his guns here.
Maybe it will be an opportunity for the BBBoC to get their house in order regarding some of the license holders gripes as well, but the important thing is the BBBoC are the best people for the job and need to put their foot down with FW and Bruce Baker.
This is something they should have done before over Calzaghe not being paid for the Hopkins fight.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
Crap decision. They only took away Del Boy's license because of media nonsense showing they can't make a decision on their own in the first place because they are easily manipulated. It happened in Germany too so why should they of taken responsibility for what happened outside their jurisdiction?
Unfair on the under card fighters too who are not as well off financially, need the money and shouldn't have to have ultimatums thrown at them. They will obviously go where the money is if they have a wife and kid for example.
If they really wanted to be moral enough, they would reverse bad decisions, get rid of bad refs and not allow fights like they did with Gunn/Macca.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
Great thread and a lot of relevant comments . But , at the end of the day , if you are a British boxer , are you going to fight on this bill? If you do ,in the future you will be fighting on unlicensed FW shows and no where else , which means FW can do with you what he likes because if you don't like what he says/does you have no where to go .
In addition the board statement says that they are supported by EVERY boxing organisation . So , before those organisations would get involved with a promotion in the future they would first have to go through the Board . Where would that leave Cleverley for instance with the WBO ?
This promotion will not go ahead of that there is no doubt - unless Haye and Chisora are removed .

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
It will be interesting what the WBA has to say about their heavyweight title being on this bill. WBA tried for years to get the Board to join them
Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
I agree with the board stance as I fear a big split in the Uk scence.
But I will be at the event my mate got two ringside seats and I likely to take one.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
I notice that Boxrec are yet to list the Haye v Chisora fight in their schedule , whats the reasoning ? are boxrec taking a stance that they too dont approve or are they not listing it due to the board statement (ie ramifications on doing so )

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
It was on the schedule the other day and listed as being for the WBO International Heavyweight title. They seem to have took it down since the statement from the Board

What exactly could the board do to punish boxrec for putting it on schedule ?????edgey2009 wrote:It was on the schedule the other day and listed as being for the WBO International Heavyweight title. They seem to have took it down since the statement from the Board

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
So, boxing is in the dumps, mainly the heavyweight division, and these bozo BBBC idiots want to take away one of the only exciting fights to be made from England? Go ahead, shoot yourself in the foot, once again.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
I agree with the board's statement i just hope they stick with it and dont get pressured into agreeing a comprimise
I feel the stand off will result in the fight being cancelled as its hard for any promoter to stage any show without anyone licenced from the BBBC think about it no british undercard fighters ,no licensed mc,trainers, referees, seconds, whips etc.Though im sure these officials/fighters can be imported in its not an easy task
If it does go ahead those bbbc licence holders would have to agree and forgo their licences- it could leave to the biggest split in british boxing, the end of the lonsdale belt as we know it and all the great things connected with british boxing, which has its faults but doesnt need to be completely fragmented over a meaningless Haye Chisora fight.
Haye flopped big time on the world stage against Wlad, sky even scrapped box office after it and then we had to watch him show his toe after he made himself look a terribly poor loser.
Chisora succeeded in turning a good performance against vitali into an own goal and gets himself suspended, for his behaviour at the press conference, not to mention slapping vitali spitting in wlads face- the Klitsckos wont fight the winner they've beaten them both comprehensively already!
I would of much rather of seen Burns /Mitchell fight at the same venue, much better and more meaningful fight both domestically and internationally.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
I've never forgiven the board for meddling and putting a stop to Enzo Maccarinelli v Ezra Sellers (whose body had been recently exhumed especially for the fight.) Thank goodness Frank can now come in and start giving us these fights.
Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
This organisation is recognised by the board through it's association with the ebu. Therefore it is not an unlicenced show, all those who take out a licence with lux fed can still box on any show in the world including the bbboc. there are plenty of refs, seconds and whips who have been put out in the cold by the board for one reason or another, so that ain't a problem.
Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
Lads, this whole bag of trouble is nothing to do with haye and chisora, this was gunna happen anyway it's just become very high profile now.
Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
All those involved in this sham should hang their heads in shame. Warren is a disgrace, this is Haye's lowest point and has stepped into the gutter where Chisora belongs.
Good stance from the board IMO.
I wish Warren, Haye and Chisora nothing but bad luck.

It's surely got something to do with Haye-Chisora.nicnut wrote:Lads, this whole bag of trouble is nothing to do with haye and chisora, this was gunna happen anyway it's just become very high profile now.
The licence-holder row has been rumbling on for 2-3 years. Without Haye-Chisora no one would give a f***.
Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
I think some promotors would love to be able to stage WBF, WBU titles again. Which to me is the bad thing about this Luxemburg Board more titles will come of it and even worse another British title. What we end up with is not the top domestic fights happeninggobbles wrote:It's surely got something to do with Haye-Chisora.nicnut wrote:Lads, this whole bag of trouble is nothing to do with haye and chisora, this was gunna happen anyway it's just become very high profile now.

I hold my hands up I am going to fight though.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
If your involved in boxing at a certain level you would realise the shit and red tape that the board put us through.( not to mention the cost) you too would be fed up. I was told that small hall promoters are a pain in the arse and cost the board money so the board would prefer to only deal with the big tv guys. Well the board can stop all this right now, let area councils have people who are voted on regardless of there status and update some of the crappy idiotic rules. fk em if not, they are the ones who will now make even more titles.

Re: Board Statement on Haye/Chisora
My only gripes with the board really are that they come across as a bit elitest at times , which considering the backgrounds that most in the fight game come from it can sometimes be a bit intimidating and also the fact that they are self appointed which can make them appear no better than the EBF , OIBA , IBA , or BBU etc etc , there also a bit costly but thats the way of the world nowdays , and they are a bit too slow at making decisions as is evident with all this chisora appeal business .
But for those bad points theyve got numerous positives , the medical precautions etc are the best in the world which to me is the key factor and their main bargaining chip , they dont allow beat up has beens to come over and be fed to our prospects (usually) , although this has occasionally been a bit too extreme and vetoed some fair bouts for example i think i remember botha being refused the ability to box one of our prospects , may have been fury , when at the time it would have been the biggest test so far , and the Lonsdale belt is surely one of the most prestigous national titles in the world .
So while i think in general the BBBoC are great at what job they do there is still room for improvement , Im not opposed to the Haye v Chisora fight , Nor the Luxembourg issue if it opens up the sport a bit , makes it more accessable whilst remaining stringent in safety and quality , the problem is we can not possibly guess how much this will be the case just yet , and another worrying thing is how much influence over this possible new board that mr allegedly would have .
I dont feel at this time im siding with either party as this story has several twists and turns yet to be revealed but im certainly an interested party to it all , will it effect me ? (either now or in the future ) will it have a positive or detrimental effect on boxing in this country over the Long term ? these are questions ill be thinking about over the next few weeks as things develop .
