Yes, I do mean George "Scrap Iron" Johnson.
Have you ever seen his encounter with Frazier, Yance? Johnson (according to various sources) gambled his purse in its entirety on going the distance with Frazier (he collected). He was not an elusive guy by nature, so I always wondered how he fought that particular bout.
Who was the toughest?

Foreman is prone to heaping credit upon other guys, but he did say Johnson stood out, "as one of the three or four toughest guys I ever fought," (he also cited Frazier, Ali, & Chuvalo).
Re: Who was the toughest?
Scrap Iron was indeed durable, but I took a gander at his record last night and was a little surprised to see some knockout losses.
For instance, Thad Spencer took him out in four rounds. Never knew about that fight.
But who knows what kind of shape and motivated he was in for certain fights.
He has a losing record, but glad to see he is in the Cali Boxing HOF.

If Oscar Bonavena was put up on that list how would he do?
