where should the IBF and WBA lightwelter titles be

Post by davie »

Amir Khan is saying that peterson should be stripped of the titles and they should be returned to him,

I must admit, that if peterson is conclusively found guilty of cheating/illegal drug use, it's hard to argue against Amir

at very least peterson must be stripped if found guilty, i'd be amazed if the respective boards for the IBF and WBA would support someone found guilty of these charges holding on to thier belts

and taking into account 1. the questionable nature of how lamont won the belts from khan and 2. the fact that khan has just been denied the opportunity to regain these belts as a direct result of lamonts (alleged?) drug abuse.

i'm no expert on the legalities of these things, anyone on here know how this will/should pan out

or if your not an expert, just speculate like i did

tough one...well it was the WBA who ordered the re-match so technically the belt should be returned to Khan...or maybe they should order he face the 'regular' champion in Maidana because if Peterson is stripped of the WBA they already have a WBA champion so where's the justification in making him super champion again??!

As for the IBF, they'll probably make the title vacant to avoid having a double world champion so they can make more out of sanctioning fees.

In short, god knows.

if the titles are vacated, i'd hope khna was at very least made mandatory to fight for them, problem then comes that the two bodies would want him fighting different challengers

Oh yes, I reckon he'll definitley be made mandatory for the WBA, I'd certainly like to see Khan-Maidana II, he should be made mandatory for the IBF, yes as you say there'll be the problem in which one he'd go for.

If proven Peterson was on ped's for the Khan fight then yes, the decision should be overturned and the titles given back.
There's something weird about this whole thing though, should this testosterone thingie show up in the post fight tests or is it something that the standard tests don't pick up? Why has the positive result only now been declared? It's odd.

ITS BULLSHIT THAT THE IBF WBA COMMISSIONS DON'T DO NO TESTING AND THEN JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON WHN SOMEONE TEST POSITIVE BY AN ANOTHER TESTER

THEY SHOULD NOT TAKE LAMONTS TITLES UNTILL THEY DO THEIR OWN HIGH QAULITY TESTING. HOW CAN THEY SAY BECAUSE SOMEONE SAID WE DO THIS!!!!!!

THE COMISSIONS ARE TO BLAME FOR WHAT HAPPENS IN BOXING AND TESTING IS SHIT AND I BET THEY FIGHTERS ALL USE THINGS WHICH RAISE THEIR TESTOSTERONE ABOVE NORMAL LEVELS

I'M NOT SAYING LAMONTS A CHEAT BUT MOST FIGHTERS ARE BUT DON'T NEED TO GO THROUGH OLYMPIC STYLE TESTING OR THEY WOULD GET CAUGHT ALOT MORE
