might go to bute froch live, do you have tip for a canadian
I have a conference in dublin from 21 to 24. Since I'll be in europe, I was thinking about going to see bute-froch in Nottingham.
I'm doing my reservation to my travel agent, and first comment is are you going to bute/froch fight .. you are courageous.
My first question to the british boxing fan, it is really dangerous if I don't behave like an asshole and i'm respectful to froch (I'm a fan even if i'm a big fan of Bute) and his fan ? Is Nottingham a dangerous city ?

No, its not really dangerous... Nottingham has its rough areas same as anywhere else. I'm sure people more familiar with the area will be able to give you some tips on travel to and from the venue, but as long as you arent wondering the streets at 2am drunk and looking for trouble you should be quite safe. As for in the ring at the fight. Of course there will be loud, annoying fans and there is always a chance of violence but unless you are incredibly unlucky or are looking for trouble you should be fine. Of course if you go with a bunch of friends and are looking for a fight I'm sure you wont have to try too hard to find one.

Nottingham does have it's rough edges, as do many northern towns, however, it's not warzone.
Boxing in the UK does tend to attract a lot of 'geezers' young, lairy, and slightly (or not so slightly) aggressive types, often pissed up and coked up.
It all depends on how intimidated you feel by this really. You aren't likely to be singled out for being canadian and lynched in the streets, but you will encounter a fairly aggro element at the fight, and especially after the event - it may be uncomfortable, but you are unlikely to be the victim of violence.

You'll be killed within 10 minutes
Only joking, Notts (tthe city centre) is sound. It even hosts the UK's only Hooters
You'll be luck to get a ticket (it's sold out so you'll need to chance your luck with the touts) or a hotel at this stage now though without paying a lot.
Final piece of advice, don't come dressed as a Mountie...

thx guy for the advice, I'll keep my mountie hat and the horse in canada
For the ticket, they posted new ticket (http://www.seetickets.com/Event/CARL-FR ... ham/624989) so im pretty lucky on this side. Now my problem is the plane for going back to Montreal for a good price without visiting half of the europe airport and the hotel.

Being someone that lives in Nottingham my advice would be if your on your own stay in well lit areas , most of Nottingham city center is covered by cctv and the idiots will in the main be well aware of that , but at least if anything did occur it would increase the chances of the culprits being caught .
In all likelyhood you would probably not encounter anything different to any other boxing event but still always best to stay on your guard , i personally would have no issue with being on my own but i live here and so im comfortable in my surroundings .

I've been to Nottingham for a few boxing shows (including Froch v Dirrell and Froch v Pascal) and I've never had a problem. Nottingham has a relatively high crime rate but I've not come across any trouble at boxing shows down there.

Hmm, tips for a Canadian visiting England. Ok, I have one for you;
Be careful not to exhibit any form of sporting prowess. You'll find yourself issued an English passport and on our Olympic squad before you know it

You'll be fine mate, Nottingham has a decent night life and I've never seen much trouble when I've been to previous Froch fights. I think it will help that this one is on a bit earlier and not scheduled around US tv. Enjoy it and post how you got on on here
