Great way to alienate boxing even more from the casual fan, and some so-called fans of the sport complain that boxing is in decline and mma is on the rise. I really can't see the fuss.

Two blokes in a sport hardly known (no offence to any boxers or nothin') for intelligence of it's participants, indeed a sport where the aim is to give the opponent immediate (though hopefully not long-term) brain damage or debilitating bodily pain, get a bit carried away and act like a pair of arseholes. We're hardly dealing with the Paul Spadafora here, who carried on fighting after shooting his pregnant girlfriend.

I also don't recall too many people moaning that Tyson shouldn't be fighting, after the assaults, pre-fight brawls, threats to kill, allegations of spousal abuse, biting off ears and you know, that nasty rape business, well, not at least when Danny Williams was hammering him anyway.

They both should have been made to publicly apologise, given a fine and that's that.
Given the physically aggressive, competitive nature of the sport, it seems a logical conclusion that these two would want to fight.

Personally I thought Tyson should have been banned for life for the biting incidents.

Yes, they should have been made to apologise, handed appropriate suspensions, served those, then there would be no issue. But they weren't, they didn't, and there is. IMO :)

I'd like to see boxing as popular as it used to be, not in the decline it has been in for a while, that is all. I'm not passing judgement, I'm stating my opinions. I honestly can't see how anyone who cares about the long term popularity and success of boxing can be ok with what is happening.

I dont need to help my cause, boxing is in decline because people arent interested in it, all the characters and rivalries have gone. You're vision of the sport doesnt get bums on seats, obviously if every fight was like this then there would be an issue but this is a fight boxing severely needs.

This fight can only INCREASE the people watching the sport , Heiwa surely you see and hear how many people are talking about boxing again since all the chisora / haye brawl incident and now that the fight has been made .

Im not saying that the 2 boxers in question are the best of role models but i really cant see how someone can say that this damaging the sports popularity , characters and controversy will always bring in the casuals more so than actual skill , some of those casuals may become die hard fans somewhere down the line , and in all honesty the paying public are in the main casual fans rather than being like the knowledgable guys on this forum

So, you think they should have been given fines and served suspensions, then you'd be OK with them fighting? Is that your view? If so, then I see your point. Though in all honesty, as I outlined above, I think that people are getting/got to carried away over the incident, calling for life-time bans etc.

Basically, yes. I never said these two should get life bans, or never fight again. I have issue with the fact that they are not giving due respect to the sport and its fans.

This fight will sell massively, the sun are sponsoring the promotion so any little incident is gonna get massive coverage in the biggest tabloid in the country, it'll sell out upton park and do massive numbers for allegedly, every general sports fan will tune in to this, but for me it's all a bit too much like wwf, staged like fuk. The fight will be a massive let down
