Of the top of my head, Ramirez lost by 3 points. I wasn't watching it closely enough to say if I agreed with decision or not, but he did deliver 2 standing eight counts in the third, but still lost that round by 1 point, so it was probably the sort of fight that if it happens at the Olympics, there will be a lot of angry.

I did try to score some rounds myself, watching the so-so youtube feed from a fixed camera. This wasn't just impressionistically coming up with a score, but trying to be very disciplined and only count punches I felt confident had scored. It was an interesting exercise, some rounds I was almost right on with the judges (who were very consistent among themselves), and some I was pretty far off. My numerical totals were not appreciably higher than the judges, and some were even lower. I still don't totally understand how the 'similar scores' are determined, and I think I have some reservations about the current scoring method, but I don't understand it quite well enough to say for sure. And I definitely like it better than the last system.

So I think that the Olympic seeds should be set, shouldn't they? There aren't going to be any changes from this tournament, and so unless fighters drop out between now and then, or AIBA tweaks their seeding, we should now what the seeded quarters should be. If it stays as is, only Rau'Shee Warren will be seeded among the US fighters, at #7, which will put him in a medal quarter with #2 Andrew Selby of Wales.

Well, I guess I shouldn't jump the gun. In the Olympic size brackets of the Women's World Championships, only 4 fighters are seeded. I had already thought that 4 seeds might be better than 8, so that might be positive.

Anyway, finals start at 3pm EST today, streamed on YouTube again. Lucky losers will learn their fates at 49kg (Venezuela or Colombia), 64kg (Ecuador or Peru), 69kg (Argentina or Canada), 75kg (Puerto Rico or Canada), 91kg (Canada or Ecuador), and 91+kg (Canada or Puerto Rico). Big day for Canada :-?

EDIT oops, 49kg was actually a place for T&T or Mexico, and Carlos Suarez of T&T and Ohio made it and Joselito Velazquez is out.

Keep an eye on Cintron, this kid will go places. His father is one of the tuffests fighters ive known and a former gym mate of mine. He was a very good amateur himself but didnt have much luck as a pro getting thrown at a 22-0 Danny Romero while still an 8 fights old prospect and was always matched tuff. He was always in the gym and the kids were like born and raised at the gym they were there every day with his dad since they were babies. It was clear since then they were born to fight.

Jeyvier is only 17 and made the team by beating 2010 AIBA Youth Oympics Champion, Emmanuel Rodríguez who had made an amazing comeback after almost burning himself alive in an ugly accident. He upset the apple cart as they say but has now proven he belongs by making the olimpics. too bad they had to share the same weight cattegory.

This is his dad Javier "Perrito" Cintron http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
