Geale v Pirog may not happen.

Post by bigred83 »

got this one from aus boxing.
pretty weak that the wbo is gonna rely on a guy that held an interim title, and wouldnt fight the champ but chose to vacate his title.

http://www.aus-boxing.com/2012/05/02/wb ... ion-fight/

dissapointing really. i was looking forward to this. would potentially have set up a great fight against martinez( who i am starting to think is there for gealey to get if he can somehow manouvre himself into that territory)

Ah shit, i was really loking forward to this myself.

He needs a TV fight and thats what Shaw is after, so why wait, there is quite a few fighters there with a name.

Paul Williams
Chavez jnr
Andy lee
Rubio
Taylor

Or he could start in Canada against Alcine?

Yeah it's not the fight he wants but theres options.

Makes the WBO look like a sissy outfit, doesn't it? Are they afraid?

Starting to hear murmurs that Geale vs Pirog could go ahead yet. Hope these prove correct :TU:

You think he will fight in the next 6 to 12 weeks.Chavez and Lee are against each other and Martinez should and will keep away. Taylor in the US makes sense to me. A guy who has had a couple of good wins back at middle, is a big name in the US and is very beatable. A good exposure fight if it can happen on a major PPV card I reckon.

Pirog last fought on the first of this months. Going on his past record it will probably be at least four months before he fights again.

With N'Jakim as his mandatory I can't see Pirog fighting Geale this year, if at all. N'Jikam is 27-0 and interim WBA champion as well as Interim WBO Champion. He is entitled to fight for a full title.

i like this. good winnable fight, against a name.
he needs to be making an appointment some time soon. it has now been almost 3 months since his last fight, and still no announcements.
i would really like to see him establish himself where he belongs - at the top of the MW tree.
i believe he would do very well against all out there. i think the biggest threats to him currently are martinez and golovkin. however after watching both of these guys last fights i think both are very winnable for geale atm.

IBF have Sam Soliman rated above Martinez as contender. Who knows?

They don't even rate Taylor in their top ten. IBO ranks him 4.

He needs a good name fight, it doesn't have to be the states, you can fight in europe(risky) but there's an abundance of middleweights there.

I believe he can have a fight as long as its sanctioned by the IBF, Mandatory isn't for a while.

I believe they would sanction Taylor given his history.

There's talk of Geale V Sturm. I think it's a good fight for Geale. I think Sturm is on the slide. Hope it comes off for him. Hopefully they can get it on in the states.

Sturm fought last month, Geale last fought in March. May be a while before such a fight is organised.

Sturm has been ordered to fight Gennady Golovkin by September; if he doesn't do that, he may be stripped of his title.

Geale and Golovkin would each have a great shot of beating Sturm.

Hard to win in Germany. But he's done it before at least.

Looks like Pirog-Golovkin may happen too.

Great times at middleweight if nothing falls through.

I would say that the winners will face off to see who fights Martinez, great times at Middleweight.

You would think so, given that Martinez holds the WBC Diamond & Ring title, and who ever wins either of the bouts will lay claim to 2 titles each as well.

You would think that the public would force the issue.

Martinez's September fight with Chavez will probably be his last fight for this year. If he wins he may decide to retire on a high note.

There's 2 seperate middleweight fights that imo will launch the 2 winners into P4P status, that in it's own right should keep Martinez interested in staying on with a few good challenge's.
