Mitchell - Burns Not happening shocker

Post by Grays_Dan »

Kevin signed his contract so any excuses Billy Nelson comes back with about money is rubbish.

It seems the Champion didn't fancy it.

If Mitchell signed a contract, then what was the problem?

Is there an agenda on here against Billy? Just asking as there seems a few threads questioning him or in a way of doing that.

For the record I would say Ricky would fight anyone from what I've seen.

Until Ricky or Billy comes out and tells us why - no one knows.

The fact is, Mitchell is prepared to go anywhere to fight Ricky but for some reason Burns doesnt feel the same way

I personally have'nt got an agenda against Billy Nelson. The thing was, a few weeks ago BN was saying that Kevin wanted to much money. This obviously isnt the case if he signed a contract a few days ago. It laid in Burns court, and it seems the chance for now at least has gone

Do we really think Ricky Burns who went in against Martinez and Katsidis is 'frightened' to fight Kevin Mitchell (and that is in no way a slight on Mitchell).

Do me a favour

Really?

A lot of things 'seem' the case when its sometimes entirely different. Lets just see what they say before we start throwing comments about.

I seriously doubt Ricky wouldn't fancy it after all Mr Nelson has gone on about it.

Don't think for one minute Ricky is scared of anybody, but every fight at this level has a price for danger money, he clearly hasn't been offered enough to face Mitchell !
There obviously slightly worried ?

Wasn't this fight meant to be 5 mins from his house? Haven't really heard him shouting about anytime, any place.

No way Burns is backing out

Maybe Burns does not want to lose his license by fighting on an unlicensed show

Maybe maybe not, but also at one point the Burns v Mitchell fight was going to be a headline fight, maybe at Upton park. And now its was going to be buried on the undercard of the Haye fight, so wouldn't of got half as many headlines as it should of.
If the Burns v Mitchell fight goes ahead its way good enough to have its own show and be the headliner.

The fight will happen eventually. Burns cant sell tickets at the same rate as Mitchell can.

I understand who the champion is at the moment, but thats the truth. If this fight doesnt take place Burns will have no credibility as a champion. Im not trying to goad a certain poster here but Broner, then not fighting Mitchell is no good.

Get them in the ring and sort it out! Less chat more action!

Mitchell put it on his twitter saying Burns knocked back the fight at Upton Park.
Dont know the ins and outs but fair play to Burns, in his shoes id have done the exact same. I have a lot of respect for Mitchell and like him as a fighter but if he seems to thnk its his god given right to fight for a world title. Go fight Ricky in his back yard and earn the title then.

As far as Burns not bein ready goes, he has been reasonably active although some may question the level of some opponents. Id say hes allowed a bit of time out, when is his mandatory defence due?
I believe he has just returned from a well earned break in mexico, getting married at the same time. If hes ever gonna have a short time out then id say it will be now.

I seem to remember burns fighting on the mitchell katsidis undercard to keep active a few years ago, maybe now its mitchells time to keep active and wait his turn.

Burns has sold reasonably well, Gomez and Martinez sold out (in smaller venues) and the other fights in Braehead sold decent numbers considering the cost of tickets and calibre of opponent. Inbelieve Katsidis would have sold out in scotland due to being a household name and i think Mitchell in scotland would sell well also.
Give mitchell an unheard of opponent in a big venue and im sure he wouldnt sell the place out either.

I think you're right, why wouldn't he be prepared to fight Mitchell when he's fought better opposition already?
The point being I doubt Billy Nelson was making so much noise about how much better Burns is/was than previous high level opponents. The way Billy has been banging on here at how much 'Burns dominated the spar with Mitchell', 'Burns is so much better than Mitchell' etc. Billy Nelson has put too much pressure on Ricky Burns. Burns knows Nelson will be absolutely devastated if he was to lose to Mitchell. By Billy going on like he has he has given his own fighter too much emotional pressure. How can you not get ready for a fight in two months? I believe this isn't Ricky Burns doing, he's a top fighter who will obviously fight anyone. This is all down to Billy Nelsons reaction to this 'fight'. Where are you now Billy? Delete your previous posts regarding this fight because your making yourself look like a joker :OhYes:
