i remember re watching this just after khan beat earl, to prove a point that earl wasnt useless as the other halfs uncle said, he very kindly pointed out earl lost and i kindly pointed out katsidis went on to fight for a world title a few fights laterkeithmoonhangover wrote:If you haven't seen it, this is amazing stuff...

I don't think Earl never really recovered from that fight.Adamj1987 wrote:i remember re watching this just after khan beat earl, to prove a point that earl wasnt useless as the other halfs uncle said, he very kindly pointed out earl lost and i kindly pointed out katsidis went on to fight for a world title a few fights laterkeithmoonhangover wrote:If you haven't seen it, this is amazing stuff...

Re: the fight you watched most often
no i dont but his general point was that earl was just another fall guy and was no better than your average nigh club bouncer, i felt and still feel earl was world class at 1 time but not quite world champion materialkeithmoonhangover wrote:I don't think Earl never really recovered from that fight.Adamj1987 wrote:i remember re watching this just after khan beat earl, to prove a point that earl wasnt useless as the other halfs uncle said, he very kindly pointed out earl lost and i kindly pointed out katsidis went on to fight for a world title a few fights laterkeithmoonhangover wrote:If you haven't seen it, this is amazing stuff...

He was never world-class --- but that fight (relatively unknown to Americans) certainly was.
Re: the fight you watched most often
It looked like a John Wayne Bar room blitz.
Re: the fight you watched most often
Ali vs Foreman n Benitez vs Leonard. Truly amazed how Benitez made SRL miss so many rights early in that fight
Re: the fight you watched most often
actually that was the idea. easier to find great fightsAdamj1987 wrote:i like this thread giving me some good fights to watch

Re: the fight you watched most often
That cut was nasty. There should have been a rematch (Benitez asked for one).
A peak Benitez who actually trained (and was unaffected by a freak headclash) wouldve been a much sterner test.

Wasnt it rumored that Benitez only trained for 3 weeks leading up to the Leonard fight? If true it just speaks further on how good Benitez was.scallum wrote:Ali vs Foreman n Benitez vs Leonard. Truly amazed how Benitez made SRL miss so many rights early in that fight

Benitez claimed he didnt train at all for this one.Sportofkings wrote:Wasnt it rumored that Benitez only trained for 3 weeks leading up to the Leonard fight? If Benitez spent three weeks training for any fight, it was a good camp.

Having the discipline to prepare yourself is part of the package of being "good".Sportofkings wrote:Wasnt it rumored that Benitez only trained for 3 weeks leading up to the Leonard fight? btw, Benitez-Leonard was on live national tv here in America and I watched it. Cosell did the call.
I was a big Benitez fan in that fight mainly because I detested Leonard.
Benitez looked about as sleek and fit as one could look, to my recollection.
That was the all-time staredown.
Re: the fight you watched most often
I know a guy who was involved wit Benitez he says he hardly trained at all for many of his fightsSportofkings wrote:Wasnt it rumored that Benitez only trained for 3 weeks leading up to the Leonard fight? Re: the fight you watched most often
Benitez could've been one of the greatest ever if he trained. How arrogant to be facing guys like SRL, Hearns n Duran without training for more than a few weeks
Re: the fight you watched most often
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It was absolute beautiful to see the defensive brilliancy of Benitez early in the fight. He made SRL look like an Amatuer early in the fight all the missed right handsman wrote:i always thought that benitez held back all his punchesscallum wrote:Ali vs Foreman n Benitez vs Leonard.
