Why did Sexton keep clapping when he was dropped?

Post by Finch »

Fair enough, respecting a shot, but that was odd last night? Anyone agree?

It wasn't a subtle nod of appreciation, it was 7 or 8 claps, each time he got floored.

I know applauding the victor before he had won it. I think he saw the writing on the wall as soon as the first punch landed

the only chance sexton had was to go in all guns blazing and instead he wondered around until the shots started hurting clapping and nodding then he was sparked. Price looked pretty impressive when he stepped up the gears.

He forgot to clap the third time he went down.

Maybe he is a little bit in awe of Price? Apparently they spent a bit of time together on England duty and Price has always been the main man domestically in the unpaid ranks.

Seemed to have a little too much respect for him. Didn't make any difference though, he was getting knocked out no matter what.

This has the ring of truth about it. I watched it this morning and found his behaviour bizarre - he was basically mentally conceding his inferiority.

Can't beat Kevin Kelly's reaction to the first knock-down vs Hamed, that was class.

It was just a bit of respect. Some guys nod politely when they get hit with with a good shot.

I think it's mainly out of embarrassment. Big occasion, all eyes on you, can make you very self conscious.

Yeah, I was like WTF are you doing?! A clear indication that he was there only for as long as Price wanted him to be. And Sexton had accepted it. Shame because he could and should have put price under a bit more pressure. That said, you cant argue with the finish
