To be fair Billy Nelson is right, and id rather hear from a trainer with passion than some blinded fool nutthuggers who think kevin mitchell beating the euro level murray and getting an absolute spanking at world class, puts him in the same league as a two weight world champion. Especially when the measuring stick is katsidis who mitchell didnt even offer up a fight against, it was a complete blow out.Des1 wrote:Billy, you need to get some manners. Katsides had two very tough fights losing both between the Mitchell and Burns fight which obviously took a great deal out of him. On top of that he had to deal with his brother commiting suicide. Are you telling me Billy that it was the same Katsides who boxed Burns was the same one who boxed Mitchell?! Of course it wasn't, everybody knows that. So I could say a comparison shouldn't be made. Ricky had a different trainer, Kevin wasn't in a good place with personal issues when he boxed Katsides (no excuses just pointing out) so iif your going to compare one fight you can compare the other. Wish I could say we'll see but I wont because we both no when it gets to it you wont take the fight....

A)Where am I nut hugging? B) Where am I putting Mitchell up league's above? I'm saying it how it is, I haven't said either Mitchell or Burns are league's above each other. I've not discredited Burns at all, its Billy Nelson who disrespects. And 'World' champion and its meaning is very misused. Burns is a two weight 'WBO' Champion, and as I've said already, if you wish to compare fights and fighters compare Mitchell v Johannson & Burns v Johannson aswell as both v Katsidis. And its no secret that Katsidis had to hard defeats and a massive emotional blow inbetween the Mitchell and Burns fights, Johannson was on a good roll. So no, Katsidis can hardly be the measuring stick. A trainer with passion and respect doesn't discredit other boxers or future opponents, its also not passionate to name call. Thats being rude and immature. Can you imagine someone like Jimmy Tibbs coming on here acting like Billy Nelson?kingfinn wrote:To be fair Billy Nelson is right, and id rather hear from a trainer with passion than some blinded fool nutthuggers who think kevin mitchell beating the euro level murray and getting an absolute spanking at world class, puts him in the same league as a two weight world champion. I was talking about the general KM hardcore fans. Im not getting into a debate with the rest of your post. Burns is proven at world level and the WBO is a major title like it or not, mitchell has failed at world level. Katsidis may not of been the same fighter when he fought burns buts its pretty irelavent since he walked through KM it wasnt even remotely competative.Des1 wrote:A)Where am I nut hugging? Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
If it does come of it will be a good bout. Burns is a strong well made lightweight and Mitchell has very good skills. I don't think Katsidis was at his best v Burns but was very impressed with how Ricky beat him. Burns has come on in leaps and bounds and is full of confidence in his skills. Kevin is a very, very good boxer and a clean hitter; on his day he'll give anyone in the division a real fight. I'll look forward to it coming off and can't see how either boxer can be slated; they'll be well matched and I imagine a hard fight. Current form favours Ricky but I don't think he'd have done Murray the same as Kevin did. I've seen some of Rickys' trainers posts and thought he were a touch sensitive but can't understand the antagonistic attitude on this topic. A bout between the 2 will make both good money, both lads have good support and slagging Kevin off seems a bit daft to me.

Sorry, but what your saying here doesn't make sense. "Katsidis 'may not have been the same fighter' ?? Your saying what I'm saying yet you say its irrelevant? How? He was Ok when he fought KM but shot when he fought RB. Best way to decide this is to fight, problem is Mitchell and his team want it, are asking for it and are ready yet Billy Nelson isn't asking for it (only making noise about what how a spar supposedly went, saying what RB would do in the fight...and saying that Burns is not ready yet, needs more than two months, will be ready in august. Lets wait and see what excuse there is come august. Billy enjoys the talk but knows he wont enjoy the reality

I didnt read all your post im afraid, i wasnt agreeing with you i was saying he "may" not have been the same fighter. The point is if mitchell had put up a fight then i could see the argument that he would beat a faded katsidis. He didnt put up a fight katsidis just destroyed him it was embarrassing, where as burns completely outclassed him, how down hill do you think katsidis went between fighting the two, he didnt lose an arm you know.

The amount that Katsidis had dropped off by the time he fought Burns is rendered irrelevant by the fact that Mitchell was bashed up by him in 3 rounds. I think that's the point he is making.
I think Katsidis was on the slide when he fought Kevin, as I said above. Also never rated Katsidis all that high either. Good fighter of course but as mentioned a million times in here already, he has failed every time he has stepped up to world class.

what ever happens i think it will be a good fight and a tough one to call (thats how boxing should be) also i think the chief support should be mr billy nelson vs des1
also i'd like to say well done to billy as at least you've got the arse hole to come on here using your real name not like a lot of the keyboard warriors so des 1 why don't you let everyone else know who you are

I apoligise if i come across rude thats life i suppose, people who say kevin is more skilled than Ricky are in dreamland imo the only thing kevin may have is he punches a little harder but you only punch what you can hit and Ricky's defence is excellent,Ricky easily outworks Kevin and as before kevin will find it near impossible to get past Rickys outstanding jab, just to quick for him
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
This is the sort of domestic match we should all be looking forward to.
I like Mitchell, I think ghe let himself down against Katsidis, but redeemed himself against Murray. Kevin hits hard, but I think Burns has an excellent chin, workrate and all round is the more solid fighter.
Good fight - I make Burns the favourite though and I think he'll win on points something like 116-112.

Excellent match up, whilst Burns has done very well, I dont think he is as good as some make out.

I think the opposite of Burns, i think he is better than a lot of people think.
Your right great match, and if they both bring their 'A game' it will be a fight to remember i'm sure of it.
Lets hope it happens

Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
I'll never understand the logic of being derogotory about an upcoming opponent. It hardly enhances Burns reputation to say that Mitchell is not worldclass, if Burns then goes on to beat him then people will say 'so what, hes not world class anyway you said it yourself!'. Then again if you have no intention of fighting Mitchell all along then it would make some sense. Waters run deep in the world of boxing.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
A better answer would have been, billy nelson wrote:Your right hes so much better!cockneygymrat wrote:Excellent match up, whilst Burns has done very well, I dont think he is as good as some make out.
'Whilst i respect your opinion, i KNOW Ricky is as good as people make out because i train him'.
Billy, i am Ricky's biggest fan (Not biggest but you know what i mean) and i truly hope he wins if this comes off because i love everything about how he carries himself and how he represents boxing, but don't be so dismissive of another pro, who could in all seriousness, win this fight if it happened,
lets just say i hope its a great fight and i personally hope Ricky wins.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Mitchell was written off after the Katsidis loss and has done well since but needs to be busy. He seems an emotional type; if any of his friends show him this thread and some of things posted about him; I dare say he'll get in great shape and want to prove a point. Billy Nelson may be proved right on the night but he may get hoisted on his own petard.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Is this actually happening or just wishful thinking? I'm confused! Great matchup though.
