David Price

Post by dalcumly »

Having watched Price outclass a brave Sam Sexton I'm now convinced he's going all the way . He fights like the Klitschkos in that he keeps the jab moving all the time while edging forward into range and when in close lets go with accurate shots . The only way to beat the Klitschkos is to move them back ,and nobody but Lewis has managed that , or to have a thunderous ,awkward punch like Sanders .
The same goes for Price .
Tyson Fury makes me smile with his antics and I like the big guy ,but I don't think he's anywhere near capable of extending Price .

And can I say ,what a decent big chap Price is ,an absolute credit to the sport . You don't need to be a foul mouthed thug to earn in this game .

Frank Maloney has another heavyweight champ in his stable .

Price has impressed me. :TU:

Next time out, I'd like to see him fight a ranked (fringe) contender like Barrett, Charr, Pianeta, Ustinov, or Takam.

Everybody’s harping on about David Price, and rightly so! Great amateur pedigree, consummate professional. He carries the same (if not greater) power than Fury, but he can actually box. I’m not surprised Mick Hennessy doesn’t want a match up, but the British public needs to see this fight. And I have to say he looked in tremendous shape too, and like some of the lumbering giants I the division.

The same or greater? It's pretty obvious Price hits a lot harder than Fury.

He's also a classy guy, first thing he did was check if sexton was ok.

Great performance, now let's get that bloody fury fight sorted!!!

Price is a novice. Why should he fight experienced and dangerous opposition before he is ready?

Price would smash Fury 7 days a week , he'd do him a lot quicker than he did Sexton too.

Fury would take Price into deep waters before drowning him.

Fury wouldn't be knocked over like low level domestic fighters like Sexton and McDermott. Fury is the real deal.

If Fury hung his chin out to dry like he's prone to doing against Price, then it's over before they leave the paddling pool, never mind deep waters.

Fury would respect Price far more than most of his opposition.

Fury is a force to be reckoned with. If you think that Maloney and Price don't take Fury seriously then why didn't they accept the £100,000 to fight Fury on Channel 5?

Both Fury and Price's camps respect each other and they recognise each other as legitimate threats to each other. They are both world class prospects and either could win against the other on any given night.

If we're going down that route, why didn't Hennessey and Fury let it go to purse bids and make more cash themselves? Don't bother answering that, it's a pointless circular argument. I don't believe either of them are scared of the other.

If you think Fury will suddenly become a far more accomplished technical boxer than he's shown so far in his career because he would finally have an opponent he respects, then I respectfully disagree. Price is, for my money, a level or two above Fury, and would prove it in the ring.

On the contrary, I believe that they are both afraid of each other.

Fury has proven more so far than Price. Fury offers far more than any opponent that has faced Price so far in almost every department. Can there be any doubt?

Someone that will get him up the European rankings. If he gets hold of the European title then it really forces Tyson Fury's (and his people's) hand.

1. Helenius.
2. Boytsov.
3. Fury.
4. Wawrzyk.
5. Pianeta.
6. Glazkov.
7. Sosnowski.
8. Price.
9. Sprott.
10. Gerber.
11. Sexton.
12. Duhaupas.

With Dimitrenko the champ and Pulev the challenger, is the current rankings. Obviously Price can expect a fair old jump up having dismantled a guy ranked 3 spots below him (before the fight.) I dunno whether Sosnowski would be a bit of an ask to get over here before the end of July, and the rest of the non Brits there you'd struggle to get to come over here in my opinion.

We'll have to see, but I don't really see much sense in waiting around at domestic level, all that is going to happen in my opinion is Price is going to smash the guys at this level to pieces without necassarily learning all that much.

Fury would be his best opponent on paper, certainly. But given that most of his opponents so far have ended up very much on the canvas, I'm not convinced it's as big a test as you are. And I just can't agree that it's a mutual fear that's keeping them apart.

You don't think Fury and Price respect each other?

You think that a lot of Price's piss poor opposition ending up on the canvas is going to make Fury think that he is next?

Get real and look at who Price has really fought. They are nothing compared to Fury. Fury would wipe the floor with Price's opposition.

Where on earth did I say that they didn't respect each other?

And no, I doubt that Fury has seen Sexton get banged out and thought 'fornicate me, it's not even worth fighting him, I'll get destroyed'. I'm saying that whilst Fury would be a step up, Price has dealt with everyone else easily so far, and as such making a step up to Fury is not something that means he's suddenly going to be taken to the trenches himself.

In an ideal world, we'd actually, you know, see the fight.

Price couldn't knock Peret out, but Fury got him out of there easily.

Fury is a genuine challenger, no one that Price has fought so far is the real deal like Fury is. It is a big step up, if it happens.

At the moment it is not worth it for either side and they are both better off going down their own paths.

Yeah I can just imagine the barnstorming spectacle we'd get.

I'd be disappointed in Fury if he went after another 40+ has been, but not in the least bit surprised.

Is Audley even a viable opponent in terms of building a profile these days? He's got name recognition amongst the general public, but possibly not in a good way these days.

Ive always favoured fury, however, after sat im edging towards price.

its a belter of a domestic match up.... however "Price couldn't knock Peret out, but Fury got him out of there easily." - chisora sexton? i seem to remember chisora having a mare with sexton first time, was he behind before a KO in the 6th? and didnt do anywhere near the job price did in 2nd fight.

Agree 100% with second and third paragraphs, however, its a shame its come to "better off going down their own paths" cos both want euro belt next, and end game for both is aworld title challenge which if their own promoter agreed to wouldnt be too hard to make (granted maloney was right in saying lets wait till david is ready).

anyone know what prices chin is like, know he's been down in ams, notably in olympic semis, but other than that somewhat flash knockdown... ?

Price demolished McDermott and look at the fights Fury had with him. It could go on all day using comparitive results. The main concern is whether they actually fight each other which I don't think they will. There are many obstacles for starters and it's more likely they will go their own paths and in my own opinion Fury will get sparked by someone before it even gets negotiated.
