The 3 options for me, which i think help develop his career, provide a yardstick and also possibly could show us a bit more of him i would go for either:

Timur Ibragimov - Been around a while, beaten recently by Seth Mitchell, and his other losses are against good calibre opposistion, potentially on the slide because of his age but could still cause some problems

Bermane Stiverne - Would come to win the fight, can bang and has some good rankings, but with his height would expect David to box him and win, but the styles could make for an exciting fight

Final one may be a bit too soon but Alexander Ustinov -Ageing slightly, brings an unbeaten record and his height could cause a problem and also maybe gives an indication of how David would get on against Fury if they were to meet.

Do agree though there isnt many other domestic fights out there at the moment

No i have no trouble with any one discussing fighters and i like to read what others think but let no forget there boxing and there heavyweight boxing and building a hw is far more harder than any other weight. Most just build there guys up and into fighting for a world title, We in the Price team want to fight and win the title not just turn up for a pay day. Rome was not build in a day nor was any HW Champion.
Frank, as someone else said Dominic Guinn seems like a good shout if Pricey wants a US gig, Guinn seems to be in trial horse mode now and he's a tough guy, will give rounds. Just a suggestion. Or how about someone like Travis Walker, Ray Austin??

He reminds me of Frank Bruno, the way he fights. He should go for the European belt as a next step.

Personally I tend to agree with Frank Maloney. I too would advise Price to target winning the Lonsdale title outright. At the moment he's not ready for either of the Klitschkos, and it would probably only slow him up 9 or 10 months to get those three succesful title defences under his resume.

Price will go far, but needlessly rushing him will serve him no good whatsoever.

As for his three British opponents to defend both titles against:
Matt Skelton
Richard Towers
Gary Cornish
Michael Sprott (if they can't find no-one else)
Danny Williams / Martin Rogan - not that I think they deserve these shots, but they would be willing lambs to the slaughter.

The EBU title is held by a very good fighter called Kubrat Pulev, I've been keeping tabs on him for a while. WOuldn't be the wisest move for Price at the moment.

David is a real roll model for boxing and is doing everything the right way. I am more than ever convince big David Price will be world champ with in the next 18/24 months and rule for a long time.
There is no chance David Price will be World champion 18/24 months from now unless a meteor fell from the sky and wiped out the Top 10 Heavyweights in the world.

Having said that Price will crush most of the domestic, commonwealth and european level fighters not named Haye, Fury, Pulev, Bermaine Stiverne, Helenius, Mike Perez, Denis Boytsov and Mariusz Wach.

I would like to see him fight a few of the following over the next 12 months: Alexander Dimitrenko, Francesco Pianeta, Alexander Ustinov, Edmund Gerber, Ruslan Chagaev, Manuel Charr, Albert Sosnowski and Timur Ibragimov.
So who do you suggest has a better chance than him assuming the Klits retire soon? And why would he have any problems with most of the people on that list (Stiverne? Fury? Perez? Wach? Lol) on the evidence of what we've seen from him so far?

Unless they're so sure his chin is going to be shown up, not sure what more Price can do to convince some people at this point.
Well Prices own promoter/manager is telling the world he won't be ready for a world title shot for another 18/24 months which is another way of saying he knows David wouldn't stand a chance against the Klits and will wait till they're both retired.

Stiverne would play bongo drums on Prices head like he did when they fought at amateur level where he outboxed David and then made him quit...and when i mean quit he waved his hands and said i don't want no part of Bermaine.

Fury, Perez and wach...well it's all about who lands their big shots first so they're all 50-50 fights for me. Price has world class power but is also slow, flat footed and open for an overhand right.

Price is one of those Heavies who will look sensational against mediocre domestic/europrean level but will be found out bigtime when he starts facing the Top 20 world level guys and that's why Frank Maloney wants to take things very very slowly with him.

The guy who mentioned Frank Bruno isn't far off actually with that observation although Price is a much more fluid athletic boxer but dosen't have the jab Bruno had.

I just watched Price/Camarelle from the ams and I must admit it was alarming how Price's legs seemed to go from what looked like a cuffing shot.

If he does have chin issues, he'll have to work on some sort of Wlad-like cautious approach, using his size to keep guys away.

Camarelle really did a job on Pricey there.

I know it's not the answer to the chin problems, but Pricey has at least bulked up a couple of stone. Might help, but not against the biggest hitters.

I guess he's improved since the amateurs but i'd say only marginally as he's still got that same prodding lazy jab to set up big rights...that works great against the likes of McDermott and Sexton who don't have the artillery power, hand or foot speed to keep him away but against the bigger faster punchers of the divison it's not going to be the case.

Expect to see Frank match him very carefully, he knows David needs to stay away from fast handed power punchers like Stiverne. This clip is highlights of the Stiverne-Price amateur fight and should be the blueprint for any future Price opponents on how to beat him

Keep in mind the age difference. Stiverne was a fully mature adult for that fight, while Price was still a youth. Price should try to avenge that loss.

Price has made a good start to his career but has not proved anything yet. Lets see what happens when a fighter puts him under pressure and lands a few shots. At the moment he is merely bullying hand picked opponents.

I'd love to hear George Osborne lash out in a similar fashion - "If you armchair chancellors think it's so easy, why don't you f*** off to Samsonite and buy your own red briefcase". Sadly only boxing folk seem to use this retort.

Lol very true, Frank seems very tetchy when taking criticism and seems very quick to dismiss people as having no knowledge and just being armchair fans, which I think is offensive to a lot of people on here.

To be fair though, it's not that just a comparison. Osbourne is elected and so is answerable to the British public - there isn't the same obligation on a boxing promoter.
Not only that, I'd have to say that if you ignore the PR implications, some of those in the public eye would be entitled on occasion to berate their critics, as few really have a clue about the operating realities. Football managers are a great example of this, you only have to listen to 606 to hear fans saying what they'd have done in such definitive terms, when you know that in reality they wouldn't even know where to start.
Now having said all of that, I do agree that Frank could handle it in a more diplomatic fashion, especially where the critics are more nuanced and show a degree of intelligence. I think it's easy for him to forget that the vast majority of posters would love Price to go on and claim a world crown :TU:

I know mate - it's not a just comparison at all, but for some reason I thought of using a politician's name for a little light-hearted ribbing.

I really rate Frank as a promoter, and think the day he retires will be a sad day for British boxing. However, I'm sure he has sat with mates and talked about about a footballer/tennis pro/synchronized swimmer without having done these for a living
