Scott Gammer v Julius Francis

Post by jomothepure »

I'll pass the revolver round when I've finished with it boys.

30th Sep in Camarthen http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/4559557.stm

I actually hate to moan about this one. Gammer has done well, and there's few Brit based heavyweights he could fight right now that are right for him.

And Francis. Well, it's been discussed. Should he shouldn't he.

The biggest problem for me I suppose, is whether either is going to gain anything from this? I would say no, to be honest.

P.S. Head on the chopping block, I'll go mad and say Gammer PTS

Know the place well, outdoor then I would imagine - unless its in the showing sheds (like hangers).

Only showing my folks' pedigree sheep 3 weeks ago there.

Incidently, does anyone know the last time a pro boxing show took place in Carmarthen or further West.

If the answer is not that long ago (cannot imagine that) I'll ask another question, when is the last show that features a current or Former British pro champion on the bill.

Its got to be an age ago.

Interesting questions Stu.

The last pro show in West Wales I would guess was the one around 18-24 months ago in Aberystwyth when Keith Jones challenged for the Welsh welterweight title and lost on points. But for the life of me I can't think who he lost to.

As for the last pro show in Carmarthen. Back around 1986/87 one of the Haddock brothers topped a bill there (the one who didn't win the British title, Neil or Nigel) with an up and coming John Davies on the undercard. I can't think of a more recent one.

No idea on the last British or ex-British Champ to box on a bill. Though I would take a guess at either Brian Curvis or Howard Winstone who both boxed in Carmarthen in the 60s.

Wasn't that vs Bradley Pryce? I thought that was in Swansea (or maybe Newport) with Rees vs Muya and Enzo Mac topping the bill.

A bit longer ago than I thought but 23 Feb 2003 against Jason Williams at The Arts Centre, Aberystwyth.

My prediction is that Jules will plod forward very slowly like Frankenstein, as yet another easily forgetable pug peppers him to win a boring points decision.

Yet another loss to add to Jules record while his brain is further turned to mush and knocks off a few more years from the end of his life (although he is technically a dead body already)
