Just another ridiculous match up on a night that isn't showcasing boxing well.

Does Barrera need the money?

Horrible seeing a legend still fighting, when he is 7/8 years past his best. Khan " beat" the shell of MAB and that was yonks ago.

He is 37 now... not fought since Feb last year and it's more than three years since he lost to Khan.

Last seen here in UK up at Liverpool doing speaking engagements etc few months back.

I hope this fight does not go ahead, but I fear he needs the cash

Indeed, I'm just waiting to hear that Tommy Morrison/Kimbo Slice/Butterbean is featuring in a supporting bout and the pantomime will be complete.

Mitchell seems unsure too. He posted on Twitter that he doesn't know if this is the route he wants to take to world titles as he respects Barrera so much

Fantastic addition to the show which is clearly a show people want to see according to the polls, it seems only bitter and twisted people are pronouncing they are against it, but my bet is they will be the ones trying to sneak into Upton Park or despite the strenuous denials they will find a place to watch the fight.

I guess they still fear Katsidis is the reason. Mitchell has done a good rebuild job and the Australian could end it.

Here's Barrera's last fight against Jose Arias, irs worth watching just to see how funny or sad how Arias is in trying to psych himself up, and how bored Barrera looks all the way through it.

MachoMan09 wrote:Fair play to Kev if he stands up to Warren and says he's not interested in fighting a badly faded force. Mitchell is a boxing man through and through and he'd be the first to say that a victory over Barrera now is about as hollow as it gets.

P.S. Any boxing journalist that tries to put any sort of positive spin on a Barrera -vs- Mitchell encounter - and that includes those who work on BN - will lose any credibility they've ever had, in my view.
Calm down, get your knickers out of a twist. We would all like to see Barrera call it a day, he's clearly a faded force, but if he's not getting beaten up in his fights i dont see why you are taking such a drastic view on this fight? Khan clearly dominated him, but he is one of the fastest fighters in the history of boxing and an old Barrera just could'nt compete with his speed. He wont have that trouble with Mitchell. Unless Mitchell does a back peddeling masterpiece i think there's a very good chance he'll get knocked out by old man Barrera!

Jesus...terrible fight, he could regret this if he takes it: not only does Mitchell get to batter the hell out of his idol and a faded ring legend, he'll get banned as well.

Have to agree, although his past his best his no more inactive then Mitchell over the last 2 or 3 years, It would be a good crowd pleaser, the crowd went crazy when he came to the M E N.
I'm going and hope it happens :bag:

You can't be serious? Barrera was 'dominated' by his own gore pouring into his eyes and blinding him for five rounds, thanks to a clash of heads in the opening 60 seconds. As for Khan being "one of the fastest fighters in the history of boxing", give me a bit of what you're smoking.

I'm usually the first to criticise Khan but is this claim really that ridiculous? He's certainly one of the fastest, if not the fastest currently active and you'd assume that with modern training methods and facilities boxers now are quicker than they were.
