Selby card tonight
Selby card tonight
Apologies if I've missed another thread on this but thought I'd comment on tonight's allegedly card. (I didn't even know this was on, bonus!) Really enjoying it, I'd love to watch boxing in a small venue, it looks so much better value for money than the big shows.
Anyway, I was really impressed with Tony Pace in his fight against Luke Francis Robinson (son of Steve). Pace was the underdog but outworked Robinson and landed some excellent body shots. He has a really entertaining style and I'll definitely be following him from now on.
Can't wait for Selby later. Anyone else got this on?

Yeah I've got it on. Frankie Gavin now in action...was he due to be on this bill? It wasn't listed in BN.

Good to see Pace get the decision, with the right promoter he could go a very long way. The rees fight was a terrible mismatch.
Re: Selby card tonight
Frankie knocked his man down in the second round. I don't think much of the Hungarian opponent to be honest, he's tough but has very little skill. When will Frankie get a shot against a decent fighter?
Re: Selby card tonight
As they discussed, it seemed an odd decision from Samuels to take the Rees fight.smoggy7188 wrote:Good to see Pace get the decision, with the right promoter he could go a very long way. The rees fight was a terrible mismatch.
Frankie Gavin looking sharp against a tough customer.

Did they? Ive got it on mute. I can see Gavin/Vassell rather than Gavin/Witter.
Re: Selby card tonight
Lazslo fails to come out for the 6th round, Frankie wins and looks good, well done

I don't know much about Vassell, do you rate him?smoggy7188 wrote:Did they? Ive got it on mute. I can see Gavin/Vassell rather than Gavin/Witter.

Re: Selby card tonight
As soon as the Rees fight started you could see he would be way to strong for Samuels, no idea why this match was made. Samuels needs to go back to the am's and develop, otherwise this will happen again to him.smoggy7188 wrote:Good to see Pace get the decision, with the right promoter he could go a very long way. Re: Selby card tonight
Yeah, Lillis and Enzo mentioned it and then Bunce asked Rees if there was some history between them from the amateurs as it was a bit odd that Samuels took the fight when it was obvious that he was going to be hopelessly outclassed. It was man vboy.smoggy7188 wrote:Did they? Ive got it on mute. I can see Gavin/Vassell rather than Gavin/Witter.

Vassell is a good fighter who puts it on you for every minute of every round. Witter wont risk Gavin as he has hennesseys tv money behind him and witter is still a namd fighter. Witter will go european or a world elimanator instead of fighting gavin.

I'm pleased to see that Mark Burdiss almost blows a gasket in these small hall shows too!

Why does Vince always wave the towel around his head?
Re: Selby card tonight
Selby coming out now. I'm surprised how few people are there tonight, wonder why that is
Re: Selby card tonight
Not a great attendance. Shame as it's been a decent night.

Re: Selby card tonight
The Mallet's looking well hacked off with that and I can't say I blame him. Poor stoppage.

Re: Selby card tonight
that was a terrible decision by the referee, just so common place these days.... selby looked fragile but of course there was the selby fan club commentating
dont we ever get impartial commentators?

Re: Selby card tonight
He was a tough customer, Frankie makes people look bad his that good, the guy got cut up trying to defend, neither khan, Jennings, skete and many more got this bloke out of there. No one this side of the pond will beat Gavin at 140/147, brook and khan won't be fighting him for at least 18 months and when they do your see what I mean !Shambles wrote:Frankie knocked his man down in the second round. Re: Selby card tonight
Getting sick to death of these poor stoppages by British refs. Would he have stopped Selby for that if it was the otherway round.
The guy was in the corner and took a knee, he looked at his trainer whilst the count was going then got up at 9 and looked fine.
He was a tough lad and hardly took anything clean. How are our boxers supposed to improve if the fights are stopped this easily?
I thought Gavin looked great tonight. His power seems to be coming along as well.
