Come on where are all the mugs who said, and I quote, 'Bute will stand Froch on his head.'
Re: Carl Froch a true British boxing legend
Must admit, I thought Bute would outbox him.

Re: Carl Froch a true British boxing legend
When we talk about Legendary British and Irish Super-Middleweights we think Calzaghe, Benn, Eubank, Watson and Collins. Carl Froch's resume is up there with all of them and he definately needs to get the recognition he deserves. I really hope this is shown on the National news.

Top banana. Genuine English boxing legend.
Get Kessler over here for the rematch. The Dane will get stopped if he takes it.
His record surpasses all of the previous British/Irish super mids. Top, top man. Delighted for him.

Was willing Bute to survive until the ninth so I could win some money but glad Froch did the business.

I thought Bute was going to win, but bunged twenty five squid on Frochy after nine this afternoon in a rush of heart over head.
I've never been so happy to lose twenty five pound in my life.

Bute showed some inner steel tonight. He did well to last the 3rd, even better to last the 4th but it was inevitable.
Great performance froch! Enjoy the win

Re: Carl Froch a true British boxing legend
I would now put Froch ahead of Calzaghe personally. Just for the fact he's fought everyone out there, in their primes pretty much. Calzaghe had how many easy defences before the Lacy fight?jameswilson wrote:When we talk about Legendary British and Irish Super-Middleweights we think Calzaghe, Benn, Eubank, Watson and Collins. I am so happy for Froch, I thought his best days were behind him, didn't think he had a performance like that in him as I questioned his power at the very top level.
Any way you look at it, he just smashed a 30 fight unbeaten world champion to pieces, that has to be impressive in anyone's book.
Just wish I had bitten the bullet and got tickets for it, I ummed and ahhed and decided not to go, feeling slightly gutted now as that was some atmosphere, one of the special nights in british boxing, an 'I was there' night, and I ... well, wasn't!
Re: Carl Froch a true British boxing legend
Froch deserves all kind of credit. His fight selection is unimpeachable. It's the boldest in the world, without a doubt. Simply, he fights the best he possibly can almost every fight. He's now fought every single super-middleweight of note of his era. Not only that, but, uniquely, he's not afraid to go into his rivals' back yards and do it.
With balls like that, who cares about defeats? He's won far more than he's lost in the most exalted he could have possibly selected.
And it's the way he fights. How often has he been involved in a fight that wasn't entertaining? Dirrell is the only one I can think of, and that was just a bad clash of styles. But the rest have all been superb value for money.
Carl Froch is a model pro, has massive balls, an indomitable heart, a steel chin, an even harder mind, and proves that they do indeed -- sometimes -- make 'em like that, these days.
He deserves nothing but respect.

I still think the Kessler fights is the fundemental difference in the ranking of Joe and Carl..... agree with everything else you say though.TheCobra wrote:I would now put Froch ahead of Calzaghe personally. And, cleaned it out by beating a fighter who beat Froch.
