Froch saying he was hurt and nearly went down? Is that to try and make a Bute rematch sellable?exittored wrote:Agree...Froch just said on EPIX interview that he was hurt a few times in the 1st rd and nearly went down hence why i said Bute wins 1st big but after that he seemed to wait too much with his counter punches and feinting to the point where he got what he deserved.stujones wrote:Fantastic performance from Froch. I've been critical in the past - but what a performance..... just fantastic.
Bute was awful, no other words to describe it really.... he just couldn't take the power - it was most odd. I know Sky are making a big deal about Bute never been tested, but even against the relatively limited opposition of the likes of Magee and Johnson - one could not envisage him being so amateurish and poor.
However, lets not turn this into a "Bute is overated" thread. Bute has beaten some solid top ten opposition in his time, and won very well indeed. He was completely out strengthed and made to look poor by an excellent Froch.
A clear clear win, demonstrating just how good he is.
Although, not sure where the future lies for Froch. I'm not fussed about seeing that again in Canada (Froch has his number big style), He still lost heavily to Ward..... Kessler off course, but is Kessler going to stick at Light Heavyweight.
You should really only employ that style if you have razor sharp reflexes ala RJJ and we all know what happened to him in the end.

No he was just being honest and actually said Bute shouldn't take the rematch.stujones wrote:Froch saying he was hurt and nearly went down? One thing Bute failed to do tonight was land that left hook to the body which is money shot. He stood way too far away from froch when he needed to get inside which is how Ward dominated Froch so much.
Froch is basically an arm puncher so it was shocking to see how piss poor Butes defence was.
Re: Froch/Bute plus undercard results *spoilers*
Does anyone think that the fight shows that Froch is strong, but not a concussive puncher? Bute was obviously china-chinned, and yet Froch was nailing him with ten to fifteen power punches to the chin in each of rounds 3-5. It took ages to get Bute out of there.
As for Froch nearly going down, I'm not sure Froch was that hurt. I mean, really? I was caught by a good one early in the third, but "nearly went down"? Nah. A fighter who "nearly goes down" is always clearly rocked and you can see it in their legs. Maybe Bute hits hard and Froch wa shocked by the power. But he was never troubled, I thought.

How can Bute be so poor? He looked like a frightened school kid. Bizzare. I mean lets be honest Froch basically just ran at him and punched his lights out. Many had this guy ranked above Ward ffs! Truly one of the strangest, most shocking fights I've ever seen.

Froch, top man. Eddie Hearn...fud lol

Classy guy Butes trainer
Re: Froch/Bute plus undercard results *spoilers*
Like Bute's coach's attitude. No excuses, fair comments all round. rare to hear such common sense.

Re: Froch/Bute plus undercard results *spoilers*
Bute (thinking back to the Andrade fight) has a very strange look when he gets hurt, doesn't he? That alarming "falling-apart" job. I want to say "Well done" to Bute's trainer, because if he was more of a prick he could've tried for the DQ there, but from his body language the moment he realised the ref was gonna fvck about, he was just like "Fvck this, my boy's getting hurt, not having it no more." So with the interview as well, Bute's trainer = Dude. ![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)
@ Carbo: yes, heavy-handed rather than devastating. That left hook that Kessler landed on Green, fer instance, would've actually decapitated the lad.
But again: FROCH=

Light Heavy is a bad move for Carl.
Re: Froch/Bute plus undercard results *spoilers*
To be honest i dont think there could be a DQ the rules state is has to be a member of the corner team coming into the ring.
I know Eddy is linked with froch but hes not a member of the corner team you couldnt DQ some one for a crazed fan invading the ring which EH basically was lol.
Also if people want to be pedantic about DQs then bute gets DQED first at the end of the 4th when he was cut he had two corner men in the ring which isnt allowed either ;;-)

Show was poor , very dissapointed , obviously delighted with froch result but the event itself was really poor , will elaborate further in morning when not on my phone in a nightclub .

I've got fights wrong in the past but never like this....i dont think it's so much Butes chin but more his legs turn to jelly when he gets caught wheras Froch has amazing powers of recovery. Also his failure to land that left hook was a massive negative for him as i was absolutely convinced Froch left himselof open for that punch.
I've never warmed to Froch before but after this performance give him all the praise he deserves.
Re: Froch/Bute plus undercard results *spoilers*
It was a piss poor undercard like most of Hearns shows, Brook-Hatton was just as bad too.damianhucker1 wrote:Show was poor , very dissapointed , obviously delighted with froch result but the event itself was really poor , will elaborate further in morning when not on my phone in a nightclub .

Re: Froch/Bute plus undercard results *spoilers*
I thought Froch was hurt in the 1st, after lunging in and catching Bute a couple of times, Bute seemed to land soldily, and suddenly Froch was boxing respectfully and staying away a bit. Seemed very unlike he'd been 30 secs earlier, so he was hurt by the sounds of it.
Bute doesn't have a china chin, not with all those good wins and swapping punches with Miranda and co. Carl punches very hard, and the amount of times he whacked Bute would have pretty much taken anyone out, eventually.
Bute just seemed clueless how to deal with a seasoned crafty operator like Froch has turned into.

With Kessler and Ward moving up - not many. The Dark Destroyer wrote:There are big nights at 168 yet.keithmoonhangover wrote:Light Heavy is a bad move for Carl.

Agreed. Froch is a model pro. He's always in shape, and clearly has muscles like that steel wire on suspension bridges. I'll bet he shocks a few with his strength. But his technique is far too poor to get genuine power at world class level. My view.Datsue wrote: @ Carbo: yes, heavy-handed rather than devastating. It's ridiculous to talk about such things after such a fabulous victory. Feel bad for even raising it.

Kessler can still make weight. Then there's Pavlik, DeGale, Groves and Adonis Stevenson.stujones wrote:With Kessler and Ward moving up - not many. The Dark Destroyer wrote:There are big nights at 168 yet.keithmoonhangover wrote:Light Heavy is a bad move for Carl.

Isn't Ward fighting Dawson at 168lbs? either way there's no need to see that fight again especially when you consider Ward broke his hand around the 7th rd and still dominated it.stujones wrote:With Kessler and Ward moving up - not many. The Dark Destroyer wrote:There are big nights at 168 yet.keithmoonhangover wrote:Light Heavy is a bad move for Carl.
Andre Dirrell rematch or Kelly Pavlik make most sense...even possible all british fights with Groves or Degale although they're probably both 12 months away from a fight like that.
Re: Froch/Bute plus undercard results *spoilers*
Stevenson would be a great match up for Froch and they could obviously build it up with the revenge angle for Canada.keithmoonhangover wrote:Kessler can still make weight. Kessler rematch would be a biggy. Ward rematch I don't want it, don't think the public should want it either, styles make fights and I want to see Froch in proper fights. So for me it's Kessler, in Nottingham, a shame Nottingham hasn't got a bigger indoor arena really they'll have to build another tier!
