woods v calzaghe

Post by boxbet »

i am no fan of bogus belt holders but who would win, woods or calzaghe? woods is the legitimate champion with the ibf belt, but i think calzaghe's hand speed may see him through. what do you all think? my 1st post , im now in the club.also think morales gives maywether alot of problems.

Welcome, another Welsh addition :TU:

Its a tough fight to call, I definately give the edge in Speed and power (despite Joe being a Super Middleweight). I think stamina and chin its pretty much even. I think workrate is quite even also, I think Woods can work harder if need be (as you will probably get to know I keep harping on about the Ashley fight, but Woods showed a great punch rate there).

So you could very well have a point, however if Woods gets some good sparring in he could win this one. Calzaghe has been down now to weaker men than Woods and I still see this fighter who is SO easy to hit with the straight right hand. Woods is faster than the 1999 version of Rob Reid who was hitting Calzghe (admittedly an ill preperared Joe) at will.

I'll have to see a few more fights with Clinton against Southpaws before making a proper judgement, but I don't see it as the certain Joe win that I thought before tonights performance. Before tonight I thought Joe would break down Woods with workrate and his power, but now seeing Gonzales unable to really get at Woods and hurt him, I'm not so sure.
