If the number of stoppages scored or suffered is 0, it is not added in parentheses any more, even if the number of total wins or losses is larger than 0. This does not apply to the records which are displayed on profiles, on which "(KO 0)" is still shown.

Haven't read through all the posts so not sure if already suggested.

I think every fighters record should be numbered so you can see at a glance how many fights they had when they fought someone, fought the a title, had their first loss etc...etc...

So Mike Tyson for example would read -

(3) Don Halpin
(2) Trent Singleton
(Debut) Hector Mercedes

That what if any of the old timers records are incomplete then the number could be skipped to show when a fight is missing off their record

my suggestion is this:

I am interested in a fight between a boxer and b.
I want to know what their rating was at the time of the fight (for example 1 year ago)
if there is a option to open the record of boxer a and put your mouse on a specific battle with boxer b that has been in the past and to see the ratings would be both at the time of the fight would be great.

it would be possible to know the real balance of forces at the time of the battle.

Thank you.

I don't know what's the reason for it, but ther's reversed order in fighters record in prizefighter tournament, If guy would go into prizefighter debuting as a pro, he would have final listed first in his record, semi final second and quarter-final third, I think it should get it's correct order going from quarter, thorugh semi-fnal, to the final.

I think this has been mentioned before, but afaik there is some sort of database reason why this can't be so.

Probably been mentioned before, but it would be good that when an external link (YT, news site etc.) is clicked on the forum, it opens in a new tab. Makes things more user-friendly.

On a quick look through a few prizefighter results (on records), it looks like the fights are recorded alphabetically ( I viewed 4 different heavyweights).

IE... the top (or most recent) fight to appear, will be against the fighter whose name comes first.

Eg
Michael Sprotts record wrote: 2010-10-09 242 Danny Hughes 274 7-1-2 W UD 3 3x3 heavyweight 86 88 14 14
referee: Howard John Foster | judge: Phil Edwards 30-27 | judge: Victor Loughlin 30-27 | judge: John Keane 30-27
'Prizefighter' Tournament Heavyweight Quarter-Final

2010-10-09 242 Shane McPhilbin 220 2-1-0 W UD 3 3x3 heavyweight 88 88 12 12
referee: Phil Edwards | judge: Howard John Foster 30-27 | judge: Victor Loughlin 30-27 | judge: John Keane 30-27
'Prizefighter' Tournament Heavyweight Semi-Final

2010-10-09 242 Matt Skelton 249 23-5-0 W SD 3 3x3 heavyweight 88 98 104 96
referee: John Keane | judge: Phil Edwards | judge: Howard John Foster | judge: Victor Loughlin
'Prizefighter' Tournament Heavyweight Final
They are listed correct alphabetically, but wrong in terms of order.

If this is the issue, although I'm not sure, Boxrec could format the way they are recorded by:

a) putting some sort of order into the dates, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 - invisible would be the best.
b) putting a,b or c before the names of both fighters - again making it invisible would be good.

... some kind of automated system could be introduced to do this every time the words Prizefighter and Final, Semi-Final or Quarter-Final appear in a bout log.

c) allow 'time' to be added to the date column, to be used when necessary.
d) have a hidden 'order' column

I think C & D would cover every issue possible, and would be the easiest. C would also allow us to see who had the longest/shortest rests between fights :TU:

So often I watch and record bouts on TV and the results and sometimes a record of the card are not in the boxrec data base. With all the support you get it seems to me that it would be helpful if Boxrec had someone reliable submitting data of bouts and cards from television if details and results are not available.

A prime example is Saturday Azteca aired a card from Mexico that is not even listed as happening. I realize getting information and coverage from Mexico and other places may be a challenge, but at least having someone gathering details and results from another source like boxing on television would be helpful.

Thank you

P.S.

The card featured
Abner Lopez vs. Jesus Gurrola- 10rds welterweights
Luis Nery vs. Carlos Castaneda-4rds bant

Nery won 40-36 on all three cards
Lopez won a split decision 96-94, 95-94, 94-95

Can't offer a date, I was hoping to find that in the database.

Add different sanctioning bodies to make it as accurate as possible for journalist and fans to see all titles a fighters fights for.

[My suggestion]

Make the columns sortable. Instead of having the fights all sorted by date, they could be sorted by opp pre or opp aft, division (weight class), the outcome type (KO, UD, SD, etc.), W/L, location, and so on.

This would make it easier to find a fighter's best wins, their record at a particular weight class, their min/max weight, and obviously much more.

MontyCircus wrote:I'd like to see, on the P4P rankings lists (both active and all-time), a column added that lists which division a fighter is/was in.

This should be pretty easy to implement, and would make it much easier to see at a glance which division a fighter is/was in without having to click through each in turn.
Someone like Dingaan Thobela would have so many divisions listed it would make it unreadable. Unless you mean one division they scored most points in, in which case that has other problems.

Allow searches for fights within a time period and offer filters such as combined wins, combined BoxRec rating (one for at the time of the fight and another for their final inactive rating upon retirement), weight class, combined height, combined weight, KOs, KO%, win%, etc.

Basketball-Reference.com has a set of research tools called 'Play Index', which inspired this idea.

I am still recording fights that are not making it to the data base and constantly finding discrepancies in results. I realize there are many cards and fights to cover in the world and I am surprised the staff are using tv as another source for information as well as for confirmation of accuracy of results.

I would really appreciate if this website could have Pound for Pound rankings for any given date.

In example: I want to know what was the top 25 p4p for that date: 2000-09-20

Like a button where you could enter a date and see what was the P4P ranking according to boxrec from that particular date or year.

I love ratings :) Would it be possible to do a drop down of African and Asian fighters just like there are ratings for Europe, CN, US,MX, Latin America, and Commonwealth?
