Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
It'd make Frochs attacks more desperate and wild probably, thats about it.

Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Definitely not, Ward is still better than Froch and would still beat him. It might be a bit closer on the cards but Ward would still win the fight.

Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Froch would be a huge underdog but he has definitely earned that rematch if he wants it.
Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Maybe he could do better but he's never beating Ward.
Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Froch looked like absolute shit against Ward, yet still somehow managed to convince 2/3 judges that he won 5 of the rounds.
I'd expect him to be better in a rematch and felt he looked very flat in their first bout, so with the same judges and a home crowd then who knows what could happen.
For the record I had him completely dominated in the first fight until Ward took his foot off the gas and coasted through the last few rounds.
Froch would really need to stay competitive through being busy through the first eight rounds or so before making Ward have to dig deep to fight the last few rounds and take some risks to secure the win. If he could drag him into the trenches and really test his stamina then anything could happen.

If it could have got ANY closer on the cards in December, Froch would have won.brian13 wrote:Definitely not, Ward is still better than Froch and would still beat him. It might be a bit closer on the cards but Ward would still win the fight.
I know exactly what you mean though - the cards in America were rediculous.
Credit for Froch for never mentioning that the fight was close.
Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Thats an easy lazy and inaccurate cop out. The pre Froch Bute if that guy appears again, he has every chance of beating Ward. And the Froch we saw against Bute, Abraham, Kessler, and Dirrel has every chance of beating Ward and will do if he gets a rematch in Nottingham.MachoMan09 wrote:No. Levels. Bute found his last night just like Froch did when he boxed Ward.
Last time Froch went out to America and had neither his usual focus or hunger or for that matter sharpness.
Look at Calzaghe-Lacey do you people honestly think the home support, the rabid crowd which so motivated and spurred Joe on to his best didnt make a difference? Likewise the Froch -Bute beatdown....trust me people....and i was one of the few who predicted a Froch brutalisation over Bute...if Carl gets Ward in Nottingham it will be another Calzaghe-Lacey type massacre. Carl is just an all time great who finds a way to win a throwback to the great American era of the 1920s and 30s.

.
Kessler got slaughtered by Ward and then beat Froch...
Carl arguably lost against Dirrell, many thought he did.
If Carl was to beat Ward, he'd have to find a whole new level imo.
Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Agreed if there was a rematch Ward would win even bigger next time, also he won the Olympics in Greece at just 20 years old so would hardly be phased fighting in Nottingham or be out of his comfort zone.jBacca wrote:Messing aren't ye?mugabi wrote:Thats an easy lazy and inaccurate cop out. Stop making excuses for Froch, he lost fair and square and there was only one of them that went into the fight with problems and that was Ward, not Froch.
If you remember Ward sustained a bad cut in september postponing the first fight till December and there was some worry that the cut wouldn't have healed properly and could well open up during the fight. Adding to this was the fact that Andre broke his left hand in 2 places before the fight which was only revealed to be a double break fracture afterwards and he further ruptured it during the 6th round and couldn't use it properly between rounds 7 to 12.
Andre Ward: I just knew it hurt like nobody's business," Ward said. "We had to go (through) with the fight. I was extremely concerned the whole week of the fight, but I knew I couldn't pull out. It was inevitable that it would get banged up again in the fight and that is my lead hand. I felt it all through the fight, but I bit down. I continued to do what I had to do.
Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Ward is like a ghost, he just reads the opponent so well and his sense of distance is fantastic.
He has been flattened by Boone early on, but has become wiser for it.
Froch would have a puncher's chance, and it would be closer affair in Nottingham, but I don't think anyone has his number.
Top guy, consummate professional, decorated amateur, boring as f*ck.

Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
well we shall see
Ward is a home town front runner. His winning an olympics in front of a sterile neutral amateur crowd in greece hardly compares to fighting a pumped up hungry Froch in Nottingham in front of 20,000 partisan fans who will hate him on fight night with a passion.
Kessler was also used to fighting at home and went to America and got beaten. Froch than faced the man in his own den. Ward does not leave his safe haven.
I know exactly how Froch will beat Ward . I can see it.

There isn't a cat in hells chance Ward will come to Nottingham, even if he loses to Dawson. Ward's beaten Froch and unfortunately the argument of 'I beat you convincingly, why do I have to fight you again' is going to be good enough.
Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
To be fair I don't see way Ward should have to come to Nottingham. It's not like the first fight was in Ward's home town.jameswilson wrote:There isn't a cat in hells chance Ward will come to Nottingham, even if he loses to Dawson. who cares, no shame in getting outboxed, especially by such an awkward, spoiling and athletic champion as ward.

Surely not beyond the realms of possibility this fight gets made, unless Ward plans to stay at 175 post-Dawson (can you imagine how ugly a Hopkins Ward fight would be to watch...)
Froch beats Kessler in Sept/Oct this year (not sure Kessler is the man he once was post-Ward loss and his injury problems), then its the obvious fight out there.
Boxing at the end of the day is all about maximising earnings and if Hearn can put enough money into the pot (big if, admittedly) then I reckon Froch v Ward II at Forest's ground next late Srping/early summer is a distinct possibility. Ward has no history or even suggestion he wants to travel, but if the offer is impossible to turn down then surely he'd be tempted. Assuming Froch/Kessler is a blockbuster (the first one wasn't too bad was it!) then I reckon Sky might even be persuaded to turn their back on their PPV stance and re-introduce it for this fight. Would make sense as only way realistically Hearn will afford the purse that Ward would require, and would Froch an overly deserved massive pay day in the later stages of a fabulous career.
Bute enforcing his mandatory rematch option could be a fly in the ointment though.

Are you being serious? Froch has only just got back on Sky after bombing on Primetime and now you think Sky would stick him on Box Office against a guy who comfortably beat him, despite the scorecards? As for the City Ground idea, tickets were available for Bute right up to the day and were selling at a loss on Ebay, Seatwave and Viagogo. Oh yeah, and Ward wouldnt come over anyway!squared circle wrote:Surely not beyond the realms of possibility this fight gets made, unless Ward plans to stay at 175 post-Dawson (can you imagine how ugly a Hopkins Ward fight would be to watch...)

Bute vs Froch 2 in Canada might be a fly in the ointment, but Froch's bank account will not complain.mickey1975 wrote:Are you being serious? And neither would Froch! A fight against someone he hammered or someone who beat him quite easily and i suspect he knows he has little chance of beating.stujones wrote:Bute vs Froch 2 in Canada might be a fly in the ointment, but Froch's bank account will not complain.mickey1975 wrote:Are you being serious? Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
I was being serious, and only said might be return of the Sky PPV.
Khan is quickly losing a lot of his lustre (inside and outside the ring) so after that who is the immediate golden boy for Adam Smith to invest in (albeit I accept Sky's interest and investment seems on the wane again)?
Brook still 2 or 3 fights away (and limited exposure to the casual/general public), Price is still a good half dozen fights away unless Maloney does something unpredicted and pitches in him very deep in next 12 months, Quigg/Frampton still really not much above domestic level, the middleweights don't seem in any hurry to start fighting each other etc.
That leads back to Froch but agree beyond his hardcore of support, maybe he does not have the pullng power to draw the numbers. In my head, i saw Smith maybe giving him a PPV slot as a way of saying "sorry" for the years they ignore him when he was plugging away on ITV4 or Primetime, but I guess it is a bit romanticised when you look at it in hard facts.
Is an interesting question though - if Sky ever did consider returning to PPV then who would it be for. Maybe Price vs Wlad in 2 years time?!

No shame in rematching Ward and losing. Froch also did better than any of his other opponents.
I hope he gets Pavlik, Kessler, Hopkins…
Gomez, have you heard from Carl?

Re: Would froch v ward in Nottingham be a different out come ?
Yes, says it's looking more like Kessler and that he spoke to Mikkel on the phone the Sunday after Bute fight - and that Mikkel is ready for a good old fashioned dust-up again. Obviously the numbers for both parties have to be right, but it sounded very positive.Ezzard wrote:No shame in rematching Ward and losing. Froch also did better than any of his other opponents.

Don't think Carl or Mikkel's mothers are pleased about it though. Kessler's face was a right mess the day after their last fight - and Carl's mum is fond of Mikkel.
They talk quite often actually and have some good banter. Mikkel was really happy Carl beat Bute and surprised how emphatically he did it too. I think interbox dicked Kessler around for a fight in Canada, with an insulting offer.
