Ha ha well they've usually done it the hard way so I think they've certainly got more right to believe that to some juiced up roid bomb who knocks over a dummy

Take away the top twenty pros at most weights and I think you will find very little difference in standards Jeff every week you get people on here slagging unlicensed off 2 local pros at my old gym used to always slag shite collar off on fb so I took one of my lads up to spar them and they barely landed a punch on him yes some do parade around as if they're the dogs conkers but the same applies to half the pros outside the top 20 in most weights cos unlike in most sports pros don't actually have to be any good in order to be employed and half ain't

Fair point billy... I think the traditional novice amateur, open class amateur, novice pro route deserves more respect but that's maybe just from what I see in my neck of the woods. Undoubtably there are some decent unlicensed lads but at the same time there is nothing other then a keen eye to separate them from their less credible counter parts ... IMO of course

Its not how it used to be

Many of them are very good

ive seen some better than pro shows

of course theres some that are crap

but same can even be said about world title bouts

i have to agree one of the best fights ive seen was on a EBF card in blackpool but there was a few 1 punch and quit fights

Oh i agree,these days though it`s a 20 stone piss head from the local pub vs mr gym head from the local gym fighting for a paper title.
I haven`t been boxing myself for a couple of months and I went boxing yesterday and there were 3 people there in a club that used to train over 20 fighters,i asked where had everyone gone and i was told that they train on "semi pro nights"...basically semi pro killed the club i used to train in and all the lads hopped over...boxing will be dead because of it.

sometimes people have to go where the money is

if they were top amateurs the likely would have stayed as amateurs

if not then they wouldnt have lasted anyway at the club

it may have just revved up the inevitible

of course i dont know your club

but unlicensed boxing will never ever kill the sport

as long as people are participating and coming into the sport

then the sport will continue

Im a pro promoter but to be honest there is normally a really good nights entertainment in watching 2 guys smash each other to pieces, wouldnt it be good if we could promote both types of fights on the same night (hint hint LBF)

That's what Bruce is trying to create with the Lux Box board - a system where white collar and pro boxing exist together so that small hall promoters can make money again.

Personally, I don't like it as I'm a BBBofC supporter through and through but it's easy to see the logic behind it.

Who issues your licence? If its not BBBoC - then how is it licenced?
